Surefire Flashlights

So does anyone think that Surefire flashlights are viable self defense tools? I'm sure if you got hit with one of those things it would hurt like hell, but a light to blind someone? How realistic is that really? I have seen the lights and they are pretty damn bright especially if you get flashed in the eyes.

I use one for work all the time its the only flashlight I use it take a beating and works forever.

One of the cops that uses it said that he was in a gun fight and the bullet hit the light and saved him then he went to turn it on and it still worked

I don't care about their utility as a weapon, but they are the best flashlights I've ever used (by far).

Ditto. I carry one, as does my wife. On a dark night, one would be pretty off-putting.

Bright, strobing flashlights are disorienting as fuck, plus any heavy ****l flashlight is going to be a pretty effective bludgeon.

EDIT: even smaller flashlights gripped in the fist can turn a wussy little arm-punch into a KO machine.

I used to have a 6p with that spikey bevelled thing, I have a 6p LED now with the flat head. The normal 6p had better light but the bulbs burnt out like nothing. The LED hasnt burnt a single bulb yet and I use it a lot.

They'll easily blind someone if its outside on a dark night and you shine it right in their eyes, theyll be blind for at least a couple seconds.

As for a weapon... I don't know, if you hit somebody with anything that looks like that its going to be considered a weapon. I'd say either go low profile with your hands or a rock or go full on with a knife or gun. This has the legal downfalls of a knife and the effectiveness of an expensive rock.
