Franchi FAE SPAS15 or a used SPAS12 with folding stock - Think Terminator: "12GA. AUTOLOADER!"

Winchester Defender or Mosberg 500. They can both be bought for decent money and are both excellent shotties. Remington 12 Guage Express I've heard is also decent.

I have to agree with the majority. The most servicable and buy is the Mossberg 500. Good meat and potatoes. Accessories are cheap too.

Dont discount a 20 gauge. A lot of people who could easily handle a 12 prefer a 20 gauge. A 20 gauge loaded with #3 buck is a devastating and easy to handle close quarters weapon.

Also if you have a wife/trusted child it might be intimidating for them to use if you are lying on the ground bleeding.

how does a telestock kill more recoil than the original stock? i have the same weapon and if i dont have my pistol grip on it i have the original stock on and its fine. i cant shoot slugs with one hand on it, but on the other hand why would i need to? either way it does look tacticool to have the specops stock on it.... now if we were to talk about a cool lookin shotgun tho i would have to go with some of those tactical bennellis

Remington 870, 12 gauge pump. Probably run you around 4 or 500 dollars give or take. None of the terminator stuff, just a great reliable pump shotgun. It's all you'll ever need for home defence. There's also the Winchester 1300, 20 gauge pump. I've owned both of these guns for awhile and they've both performed perfectly. And yea I agree with the guy who said it doesn't matter if it's 20 gauge or 12. Don't get too hung up on that. A three inch magnum shell at 10 to 15 feet, in either gun, is still gonna blow a hole in somebody the size of your fist. Also, if I were you, I wouldn't cut the barrel off.

But then again, in any discussion about guns, opinions vary.
I have a Mossberg 590 with more rounds through it than I can remember, and it just keeps on ticking here is the only picture I have of it:
