My new favorite handgun...

CZ 97... a full size, .45ACP service pistol. Picked one up last night at my local fun store. This thing was not even on my radar, but I saw it behind the glass taunting me. Ergonomics were excellent, felt really nice in my hands. Then, I saw the price tag... $550 cast out the door. Bought it immediately. From what I can tell so far, fit and finish are really nice. Full range report to follow. If you're in the market for a full size pistol in .45 ACP I suggest you give it a gander.

I've heard good things about CZ pistols; a friend swears by his. Congrats on the purchase.

I've always read how good CZs are, but I've never liked their apperance. What size is the barrel though?

He says "full size, .45 service model"; I read that as 5" barrel. Commander would be 4" barrel.

For that money I would have gone with a Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec.

I'm a big Springfield fan; Mil-Spec is supposed to be a good weapon. I have a TRP in stainless and love it.

really, id suggest a S&W M&P .40 to anyone, as long as its the '07 or better model.

yes its polymer, but the thing fires like a laser. ive shot a couple at different ranges back home, and theyre all damned good.

at 25ft, i put all 16 in the chest area. it shot as well, if not better, than a wilson arms [a $1700 pistol] i also rented. its one of the best pistols ive ever shot, if not the best, and bar none for the price tag.

great concealed carry gun, as its fairly thin and compact despite the huge amount of ammo. cant lose the $450-500 one costs either.

before anyone says a .40 is just a pussy 10mm, let me ask: have you shot a 10mm? not many still make them, but every one ive shot kicked stiff with plenty of muzzle flip.

Let's here the range report?

i've been eyeing the CZ line closely. Accuracy is supposed to be really good. Considering they are now making the new NATO sidearm i would seriouslly get familiar with one. Especially at 19rds of 9mm in the mag.
