Just bought a Mosin Nagant
I am pretty excited. Has anyone here ever customized one? I am thinking about buying a new stock, wondering how hard it is to install. Thanks.

They are pretty easy to work on, but I think you're better off keeping Soviet C&R's in the condition they were intended: heavy rifles that serve as excellent clubs and spears should you and your comrades ever run out of ammo.

LOL, no. I bought my first gun in November. I am slowly trying to acquire guns. And since I am on a limited budget it can be tough. I found this for $80. It is a Soviet model, and is in excellent condition considering the age of the weapon. From what I hear it is a very good weapon.
I actually never used it in COD

"Very good" is relative. They've got a lot of kick, and the bolts can be difficult to work quickly. The sights are bad, but no worst than most contemporary rifles. That being said, they hit hard and are reasonably accurate.
What model did you get?
If you enjoy old rifles, you should consider getting a C&R license. It's a licensed issued by the BATFE that allows you to order rifles that are more than 50 years old and have them delivered to your home. There's still a reasonably good selection of cheap C&R bolt guns available, including Mausers, several more models of Mosin Nagant that you don't have, British Enfields, and the amazing Swiss K-31's. The license only costs $30 for 3 years (though it does come with the responsibility to maintain a bound book with a list of the firearms you've acquired or disposed of as a collector, and BATFE is allowed to demand an inspection of that book).

I got the 9130. The safety is a pain in the ass too. I am just gonna leave it off.

I agree, they kick like a mule, have a ton of muzzle flash, are really loud, and the bolts are a pain on em. You kinda gotta slap the bolt up, pull it back hard, slide it forward and then slam the bolt back down. It's kind of fun to get good at it. That being said it will turn some heads at the range due to its noise and muzzle flash.

my 91/30 is fairly accurate. I can shoot a 2" or better pattern at 80 yards shooting open sights. Not that that's great...but I'm not exactly a sniper and am shooting surplused ammo. you do need to run some ammonia & water through the barrel, dry, and then oil it up.
Educational Zone #27 - Great Firearms - The Mosin Nagant - Page 1 - nice write up on the weapon.
I wanted a rifle that I could beat around, shoot open sights, and be able to take a deer within ~ 100 yards. the mosin works perfect for that. it's a great gun. plus the bayonet is cool too (not that I have a use for it).
My uncle uses a Mauser when we hunt in poor conditions. He suggested I purchase a Mauser, but the Mosin was cheaper. Haven't made anything but clean shots with the 91/30 to this point. I can't imagine why someone would by the Mosin carbine though...
and my pretty Winchester 30/30 doesn't have to come out in the mud and the muck, which is the best part.
