I shot the .308 H&K G3.....(gun question)

.....and that fucker packs a punch, it almost took my shoulder off and it was way too heavy.

I want to get a semi-auto assault rifle, that's lighter . Can you get a civilian version of H&K's G36 rifle?

What do you gun experts suggest?

Also what do you guys think of Kimber handguns?

I doubt you'll find one with way less recoil. The weight soaks up recoil, so a lighter gun would kick more. Did you fire it on full auto?

Kimber makes great guns, from everything I've read.

a .308 kicks to much for you? Then you better stay away from anything bigger(i.e. avarage deer hunting gun). If you want a light recoil assault rifle, just get a AR-15 or a AK-47. The AR-15 is a .223 and the AK-47 is a 7.62 / 39mm. Basicly the same size. I never shot AR-15s much, but I used to hunt with a AK, and won many running deer shoots at the local rod and gun club. No recoil and very very accurate.

No no, a .223 is a 5.56mm round. An AK round is much more simillar in actual size of the bullet, to a
.308, which is one of many different 30 caliber variations. All recoil is going to be related to the amount of powder contained in the cartridge itselt, and the weight of the firearm as stated before, IE a .38 detective special colt kicks more than a 1911 .45 (in my experience). I don't know for sure if a G36 is available in a civilian model. A good light, low recoil assault rifle is the ruger Mini-14, it is chambered for a .223 (same as G36), they are extremely well built and the action resembles that of an M14 or M1. A great reference site for a whole lot of Firearms is http://world.guns.ru

No it wasn't full auto.

I debating whether to get a Kimber or save up for the SOCOM HK USP .45, I think it's called a MARK 23.

You can get pretty much anything besides full auto.

Our clips can't have more than a 15 round capacity.

For a Handgun get the FN five seven. It is now available in a Civilian model, if i could i would get one (Only 17). The round for it is pretty impressive, on FN's website it is advertised as being able to pentrate standard body armor at 50 meters, and world.guns.ru says that it will penetrate at 300 meters. Also it has extremely low recoil witch obviously results in extreme accuracery and precision.
