help: shooting with both eyes
Ok, I need help. I haven't been shooting very long, around six months now. So, my problem is I can't shoot with both of my eyes open. Everytime I do, my vision gets crossed; the front sight becomes obscured and all I can see are the rear sights.
So I have to shoot with my left eye closed. Doing this for an extended period of time leaves with a headache because of the strain that is put on my right eye.
Are there any exercises I can do to fix this? I know my right eye is my stronger eye.
Thanks

Try concentrating on the front sight.

What are you shooting? With target rifles it's common to put a dark coloured flap or something over your left eye, when shooting with your right side. At first it might feel awkward but you quickly get used to it. With some rifles the flap is attached to the sights.

rifle and handgun. i'll try that next time when i shoot with my rifle. To I Am Korean: I can concentrate and see the front sights now, but now i see two; the correct one and the view from my left eye. what i find funny is sometimes my son of a bitch left eye seems like it wants to take over. i'm getting my cfp soon and i don't want to have one eye closed.

That is interesting, do you know which of your eyes is your dominant eye(i.e. the eye that looks directly ahead)? As i understand it is the right eye for most people, but that doesn't really matter.I suspect you may be dominant in the eye opposite your shooting hand, meaning that you are trying to aim with your non-dominant eye. For handgun shooting, the fix is easy just figure out your dominant eye ( dominant eye test - Google Search) then simply align the gun with your dominant eye. For longguns, this may require that you alter your fireing hand, which will take some getting used to. I could be wrong, but that sound like the problem to me.

I have that problem. I'm right handed but my left eye is my dominant eye.

I would say you hit the nail on the head!
It will be a pain in the a$$ to learn to shoot your long guns i.e. shotgun and rifles with your opposite hand. My brother has this same problem and it took him about a year to get it down perfect...
