Surefire Z2 has served me well.

what are te advantages of surefire lights over others? thy might be handy because they are pretty easy to carry around but I am new to weapons so I dont know much about this stuff. How bright is exactly 80 lumens? usually how long can it temporarily blind someone for?

My surefire is practically a part of me. I have several but the G2 (the base model @ ~$35) would be a great purchase. Beware, the batteries are special and two last about 1.5 hours. Aside from that, they are amazing.

They can be used for self defense alone, to an extent. They offer a stunning reaction to potential bad guys that will buy you those precious couple of first seconds. The pulse lights are great, but in a different class in respect to classification as a 'weapon'. The pulse lights can be strong enough to cause nausea and much longer lasting adverse affects to the bad guy.

My suggestion is go get a surefire g2, a box of batteries, and a quality hand gun. With those on my belt I'm confident in almost any situation!

so with the surefires, the battery will last only about 1hr-1.5 hrs? so can I charge it after or can I just use regular double A batteries? or do I need to buy special baterries? are the pulse lights stronger or the surefires? where can I look at pulselights?

they last a little over an hour..that varies some depending on if you're using it continuously or short bursts. you can't recharge. you can't use regular batteries. you have to use the special surefire batteries that are for sale anywhere you can buy their lights and online.

aw man that kinda sucks. are their batteries quite pricey just for batteries? that is kinda ridiculous that it only works with their batteries

well its a power requirement. you dont get 65 lumens from a mag lite for a reason. i wouldnt plan on using this flashlight every time the power goes out, know i mean? its a tactical light and serves a distinct purpose. using a sure fire for a normal light where you need more than 1 hour worth of light would be like bringing a f-22 to a dog fight with bi planes
oh and you dont have to use the surefire brand batteries. any old 1.3v lithium batts work just fine
