^True on all points EXCEPT Surefire does have many "all purpose" model lights, including LED lights with ridiculously long battery life.

I stand corrected...do any old batteries perform as well as the surefires? and are they cheaper?

i doubt anyone except a lab technician would ever notice the difference between the batteries.
i didnt think the LED lights still had that long of a battery life as well. i assumed they were probably on the order of 5 hours rather than 1 hour.
i always found that LED lights are reallly good for short distances, more so than trad lights, but at longer distances the trad lights were more effective,
is this true of the surefire LED lights? i know for a fact that on the recieving end a LED is much brighter than a trad light but what about functionality>
