Eskrima Belt System

i was wondering if Eskrima had a belt system that they go by? i know japanese martial arts do, and most other martial arts, but i am not sure about FMA. If, Eskrima does have a belt system, could you please list the color progression, and how long it would take to achieve a black belt. thanks

no belts, but after sufficient amount of training and knowledge you can earn the rank of giru (spelling...)

sorry thats guro.

to gain a master rank, you'll need to make sure every movement of the techniques are perfect, there must be mastery over triangular structure of footwork, single stick, stick and dagger, disarming, kicking, empty-hand and sparing techniques.

There accually are belt rankings for eskrima(FMAs). But it is different for every different style(hundeds at least). The belt systems are all different but it took me around 5 years to get a black belt in Modern Arnis. However a black belt is only when the real training begins. When I recieved my black belt I started more advanced training and it competly blew my mind. There is still so much more for me to learn.

theres no escrima body that recognizes black belts, there is in modern arnis. some schools will give blackbelts to their more experienced pupils but the belts aren't really that official.
either way the belt means very little and even an experienced master can be cut by a new person.

What a pointless thing to say, I'll exaggerate it by saying Fedor can be knocked out by a lucky punch (OMG) if caught at exactly the right time and place...it only makes it WAY harder than a lucky punch to an untrained person.

No, the knife is entirely different. Sorry. Its extremly quick, unpredictable, and 1 cut will end the fight.

Fedor could be knocked out by 1 lucky punch too, btw.

I agree more training = better chance at survival. But, ANYTHING can happen.
you are the top boxing guy in the world thinking you can beat anyone, someone attacks you and you think to defend by boxing, he pulls a knife and cuts your hand. all your training = gone.
