But i've always loved the look.

btw if my price range wasnt 500, if it was like 1500-2000 what would be suggested then? that'll be where my second gun is..
Revolvers are cheaper because they're simpler. That makes production cost less and therefore it's less to put it in your hand.

If you're going to land that much money on a pistol you really should make sure it's a gun that you want. You'll probably have enough info from one trip to the range that you'll be able to pick your gun style immedietly. Some guns just feel right in the hands, some guns don't. With that much money it's a much more personal choice. Have fun though, and don't put a time limit on the range!

HAHA! Don't mention anything about that when you go to the range. They'll think you're nuts.

However, if you really want to know how, there's a book called " Kill or Be Killed " by Co. Rex Applegate that he explains the pistol whipping technique. Another good one is "Shoot to live." A little searching on google for the PDF version will probably get you the books for free.

LOL!! A nine mil is not bad, it is just less effective than a bigger caliber thats all, shooting is like fighting it's not the size of the person, it's all about the teqnique. I garundamtee I can put someone down with a 9. A nine will help you develope that oh so neccesary teqnique. Shooting is a martial art in itself.

It's a type of file like notepad or windows word. You need Adobe Acrobat Reader to read it, but it's worth it. PDF's are the file that people scan books onto and that sort of thing. Really useful if you're into.. books on computers I guess. heh

9mm is perfectly suitable for stopping power.. it's about center mass shot placement at cqc range....the only problem with 9mm p+ or 357 mag ammunition is that the round can carry through a target. Something with high fps will hit the target with more initial kinetic energy (or "punch") then drop off. For personal defense, I suggest the .40/ 10mm/ or .45 in semi-auto. A hollowpoint .45 round is perfect for self defense, although the round allows for limited magazine capacity; I wouldn't worry, chances are you'll never need it. If you do, two shots is all it takes.

buying new?

tip one: ergonomics, if it's not comfortable in your hand, put it down and walk away.

tip two: Caliber, many people will tell you that 9mm is for girls, and that you need a 500 mag for self defense. This is bs, it's about practice, speed, and shot placement. A gunfight is lost in hesitation and unfamiliarity. The more practiced you are with drawing the weapon, holding it correctly, and firing the weapon at a controlled pace with accuracy, the more efficient you will be.
Someone can take a .45 from ten feet and shoot 5 feet away from their target simply because they are scared/unfamiliar/unpracticed with cqc technique.

tip three: shop around, check prices online before you buy from a store. If the prices aren't comparable..walk away.

tip four: Buying used... Find GRESTER'S post in this forum about buying a pawn shop gun..
Most used models have very few rounds through them, but there is a list of things to look for.

CZ stands for Ceska Zbrojovka, the american site is here www.cz-usa.com

Get something that you can afford to work with at the range...
The more hours you put on the weapon, the more effective you will be if the time comes to use it. 9mm ammo is cheap, low recoil, and accurate...I wholeheartedly suggest you get this caliber in your first weapon.

above $500 dollars I prefer
