well dang dude lol, i may be a beginer, but i don't want crappy stopping power, i've only been shooting once, but it's not like i'm a small guy, i understand good guns have kick, and i can start with a weaker type of bullet first right? i can handle a big boy weapon, i promise

If you want a gun that will never jam, again, get a revolver. If you want a gun that will never jam thats not a revolver, look into a glock, a colt, or a sig saur. Thoes 3 are also the most commonly carried by police. Berrettas are nice too, but I've heard too many bad things about their 9mm models..
Sig's are the most expensive but they're well built. Colts are diehard and moderately priced. Glocks are unbreakable and are priced like colts.

Some gun ranges sell guns on the side but the main business is gun rental. They shouldn't be trying to take your money or push a buy on you.

i've always wanted a revolver, so i like the one you showed me, is tere a good one in the range of 3-5 hundo? the one you showed was prob just a little out of my range... i don't think i could really get my fiance to let me get into the 650 range, you know?

The good thing about revolvers is that they're easy to spot if there's a broken part. There are only so many moving pieces to the gun that it's simple to inspect. When you go to the gun range, ask them to explain the revolver's design to you and how to check if there's any broken parts. It'll take under 15 minutes and will probably be included in a shooting course if you sign up for one. Used revolvers are usually very cheap, so you might be able to nab one from a shooting range or store.

Just don't buy used from a gun convention... People there will try to rip you off more so than gun ranges.

On a side note, most shooting ranges have police members as employees, so they won't be trying to con you out of your money. Shooting ranges also won't sell you a defective gun because you can try it right on the range to see if it works.

awesome bro, that seems like the way to go, i'm saving for my wedding, so this is prob the last thing i get to buy for myself before i get married, so i'm pretty stoked....

when a gun says 5 in or somethign like that, it's not really that long it's just the barrel right? so if it ssaid, 5, it's morel ike 6 and a half? or if it says 6 it's more like 7??? just so i can get an idea before i go

first thing to do is, go to the shooting range, try a few rentals out, find a style (wheel gun, auto), and caliber (9mm, .45, .357), sub compact or full size(consealment vs accuracy). then you could start to form and idea of what kinda gun you may want.

long ago i purchased a jennings j-22 and that P.O.S. jammed ever 2-3 shots & i could not hit anything. on the other hand i purchased a rossi 877, never miss fired and i could put up a decent group at 10yds.

Yeap, that's barrel size. 5 inches, 7 inches, 8 inches, 12 inches, etc. Bigger the barrel, heavier the barrel obviously. But a longer barrel means less recoil and muzzle climb. Also, longer the barrel, harder the pistolwhip.

Congrats on the wedding and I hope the shooting goes well.

hahaha thanks bro, i can handle myself, but with the idea of wifey there, i gotta be more sure i can protect the house you know? i'm gonna take everything you said and look into it, i don't know why but iwas always under the impression taht a revolver would cost more... so i though that was out of the question till now. But i've always loved the look.

btw if my price range wasnt 500, if it was like 1500-2000 what would be suggested then? that'll be where my second gun is..
