which bo/staff?

'm looking for a bo/staff I am 140 pounds 5 feet 8-10 inches tall...which size, wood material, and should I get straight or tapered?I will be using it for just training and hitting things really hard and that's it so I would like it to be light and durable also What is another bo/staff that is heavy (for a work out) and durable?

I used a 6' wooden dowel I got from a hardware store, cost like 5 bucks. For conditioning work, I used a 6' piece of 1.5" rigid conduit i had left over from a job.

Look for white oak. It might be harder to find but it's cheaper than red oak and doesn't splinter.

Custom Weapons

How much do you want to spend? Are you willing/wanting a custom size, wood and finish. Try this company:

Crane Mountain

They make some awesome wooden weapons. They are not cheap but they are arguably the best.

Hands down I would spend the money on one of these:
Bokken - Kingfisher Woodworks

The hand carved weapons are beautiful.

Go with the white wax straight bo 6 foot long. White wax is very durable and the same wood used by shoalin monks for their weapons.
