They are ok. I have a Glock .40 and would recommend that much more.

I personally do not care for them much. I carried a Glock as my primary sidearm and prefer the Glock, Sig Sauer or H&K. I had a very close friend in the Border Patrol that carried a Beretta 40. I did not like the weapon because it had a higher sight profile than the Glock and it just felt wrong. It never lined up for my natural point of aim like the Glock did. He also had weapon malfunctions on the range when I was present. What is most important though, is how you feel shooting the weapon. If it feels natural and "right", and you do not have to work at shooting it, then it is a matter of personal taste. People have different size hands and different shooting needs. If you like the weapon, then get it. I use to tell guys I worked with that I didn't care what caliber or make of weapon they carried as long as they hit the guy in my blind spot aiming at me.

I also prefer the H&K. BTW, I always want to pronounce your name as "Crispy."

My department carried them for 13 years and when we traded them in with 20,000 a rounds a piece on them we had never had anything other than minor mainitance parts wear out. Mine had 50,000 rounds on it. The barrel was shot out but most people aren't going to shoot one that much.

my favorite handgun makers.
Uhave spent so much time with the m-9, that I have grown to loath the Beretta name..
Not that they make poor quality weapons, just not my cup of tea..balance issues for my hands.
