I own a straight edge 910 in M2.

Beautiful knife. Super light, great balance, super tough.

I prefer straight edge because you can resharpen it easier. But it depends what you plan to use it for.

You could make a benchmade 710 with a functional axis lock?Doubt it.
Anyone can get there hands on a piece of D2 but how you intending to heat treat it?And what RC would you recomend for D2 for optimum performance?.

I can say that i have never seen or heard of a homemade axis type locking knife on Blade forum,Knife forum or ebay or anywere im not saying its impossible but do you even no the mechanics involed etc?.The precise enginering involved and equipment?.
My guess is no because if you did you would no it would be a lot more cost efficiant to just buy a $100 knife from a leading quaility production knife maker like Benchmade who have all the tools the know how etc etc.
F*cking Sherdog i should have known better than to even read a knife review on hear apart from the steriod forums ive never had more stupid arguments with people i will never even see than hear. Its like the stupid answers to all the BS videos on youtube.

Yeah it would be tough for most people. I am a tool maker/ machinist at work. That meands I run mills, and lathes and surface grinders. I make tool and die out of tool steel(A2, D2) all the time. We have heat treat ovens to hardend and temper the steel. Doesnt matter what it is. If I cant put it in a mill and make it. I will take it to the laser and burn it.

I would recomend a rockwell in the low 50's for the hardness of a knife. That would make it hard enough for most jobs but not too brittle(if tempered down right).

Buying a knife for $100 would be nice yes ,but the satifaction of building it myself would be great.

I do understand what is involved. I dont think you understand I have machines available to me that most people dont. I could make it.

Sorry for been a dick im just used to getting into the most stupid arguments on Sherdog over the most stupid things usually with 13 yr kids who tell you there 21 or what ever 400lbs of muscle and got ninja training from Bruce Lees ghost and are only one step away from the UFC.
I would like to have all those tools and shit at hand id buy a Busse FFBM just to get the INFI then make up the perfect blade for my hands with ergos that suited me specific. But all my oven does is burn my dinner.
If you do make a blade out of D2 i would treat it to a rc of 57 or even higher if it was a small blade like this folder is probably 59-60rc would be better for knife steel.
I can apreciate making a knife would be good but in this case because of the workings of the lock its self which arent that complicated just that there are a lot of parts and tolerance levels dont give you much room for error so it be better to just buy one or make a fixed blade as thats a lot less complicated and you could use better knife steel than D2 or A2.

I would really like to build my knife and then send it to a cryogeneic place I know and get it temp. treated and then send it to the chemical coater we use to get it nitrate coated. It would be INVINCIBLE.
