you can try ebay. but don't bid for really cheap stuff that seem like replicas. I think swordforum.com has some links to places to buy swords. I don't really know if there are much philipino dealers though.

Good swords are extremely expensive. I know a decent katana is at least 5-10k, rising to 100k for a top-quality one. I'd guess philipino swords are considerably cheaper though.

That's arguable. more expensive isn't always better, though i'd avoid anything under 200 for functional swords.
i got a functional carbon steel katana for around 250. it's not the best on the market, but it's a nice sword for it's price. I got my chinese broad sword at around the same price. again not the best on the market but good for it's price. I'm not someone who would be able to afford super high end damacus steel swords.
And wouldn't it suck if you managed to break one of those 10k swords cutting something. There is a high chance it'll atleaste get a few dents eventually through vigours use. my cheaper swords seem to cut through branches fine when i tested it.

5k is way high for a decent katana.
You could start getting custom jobs for that.
Katana's do seem to be alittle more expensive, but you can start getting some nice swords of varying styles for 400+ from a few places.
Albion makes some, and angus trim.

A sword isn't like a knife. Since a knife is short, they don't have to be as carefully made. balance, thickness, flexibility are all not as important as with a sword. You can make a decent knife by taking a piece of steel, creating an edge on it and wrapping some leather around it for a handle. If you do that with a sword, it's liable to be heavy, unwieldy, and liable to break.
Anyway, for everything sword related check out www.swordforum.com
http://www.casiberia.com/ has a good line of filipino edged weapons.
