Jungle Fight´s co-producer Wallid Ismail announced in Manaus that World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion Ronaldo Jacare will fight Alexander Shlemenko in his next show, scheduled April 29th in Amazonas state. The tough Russian fighter Shlemenko faced Jose Pele Landy in a memorable battle at last JF´s main event, and Pele’s win by decision didn’t leave fans very glad.
“I have been exchanging lots of punches and receiving a few high kicks, but I have worked hard and I am ready as I've never been before for a MMA fight,” says Jacare, who is back to Brazil after spending some time training hard in California, even with stars such as Vladimir Matyushenko and some of Chuck Liddell’s teammates. (All Jacare’s plans for MMA this year you may read in a special article on the brand new bilingual GRACIE Magazine).
Ismail also confirmed that Fredson Paixao will face an American opponent, and added some more names for the show, such as Alexandre "Cacareco" Ferreira, Marcus Sursa (USA), Lyoto Machida and Marcos Louro (Nova Uniao). Jungle Fight 6's probable final card also features: BJJ teacher Marcio Corleta, Vitor Viana, Edson Draggo (who wants to fight someone from Chute Boxe), young gun Dimitri Wanderley and French star Antony Rea (who may face Dimitri).
“Last time I got to Manaus 13 days before the event. Now I’ve been here a month and a half before. I’m personally taking care of every detail and we’re gonna have an event like we've never seen before. I’m giving special attention to the card. I wanna offer great fights to the audience and show the reason why Jungle Fight is already considered one of the biggest MMA events in the world,” Ismail points out.
