Yoshihiro Akiyama
What in the hell is going on with this guy? I know this topic has probably been done to death, but I haven't heard anything about him around here for months. I've heard that he has been suspended until July. I've also heard that he's been suspended indefinitely until FEG decides to lift the suspension. I saw the "Greasy Akiyama Affair" video and although it's half-convincing, It only shows one view of the whole thing. Also, it was probably done by a Saku fanatic.
What are your guys thoughts on this whole thing? What's going to happen with Akiyama? Do you guys think the punishment was just?

Yeah I know about the sponsorships and the general outrage. Do you think Akiyama really intended to cheat though? I mean, he put the cream on in front of the camera. He seems like such an honorable person. Had all the respect in the world for Sakuraba. This whole thing just doesn't seem right.

He also has quite a reputation as a greaser in competitive judo circles. It's not like the Saku incident in the first time he has been accused.

see sig and see that he is in it, he may redeem himself because he is one heck of a judoka and fighter
I didn't put him in my sig at first because I love Saku but the other members told me to do it

Why did my post get deleted, it wasn't out of line at all? Some mod hates Akiyama and hearts Saku too much? Wtf seriously.
EDIT. My original post went pretty much like this:

Technically Akiyama did not cheat, he found a loophole in the rules. But of course it was very unsportsmanlike and I think it was right to not to pay him and to change the official result of the fight afterwards. I'm a fan of fair fights. However this thing's gotten way, way out of hand. He's getting this ludicrous amount of flame here mainly because he doesn't have as much on-stage charisma as Sakuraba and because he's a judoka. In Japan the judo-thingy doesn't matter, in there he's getting hate because he's a Zainichi. He's a tremendous athlete and still has a few good years left in top level MMA if he keeps on training. I really hope K-1 would start putting him back on the cards again or that UFC would pick him up, the guy sure can fight.

This is of course a very touchy subject. Can he come back from this? My thoughts are yes! He is extremely talented. Do I like the guy and want him to make a comeback? (me only) NO! He has been known to cheat in the past, and you know what they say. Once a cheater always a cheater. Someone at his level and someone of his talent should never had done something like this.
