Yahoo Sports on Strikeforce Ratings.

So after reading MMA Pay Out yesterday I had a feeling that Strikeforce did good in the ratings but today I read Yahoo Sports and I get the feeling the fights did not do all that well. But the you look at the choice of words that Yahoo uses and I start to get a feeling of a UFC nut hugging reporter.
I may be wrong but it seems the choice of words sure can slant a report that is based off of numbers by picking the fly shit out of the pepper.

Well, MMA Payouts only discussed the ratings in the male demographics - which were great.

the show did great, almost 6 million viewers, and it was number 1 in the key demographics.

Not all demographics are worth the same. You may get higher numbers for CSI, or something like it, but the advertising isn't worth as much because the older audience isn't as likely to purchase items.

This was a great card. I would bet money that the second CBS show is already in the works.

the article has dana's opinion. how is any article regarding the ratings credible when they cite dana white?

coker says they did good. CBS says they did good.

they did good.

The Yahoo article simply seems to break down the numbers from all angles. If you do that rather than focusing only on certain demographics there are going to be positives and negatives, but give a more complete analysis.

Not painting a situation as all gumdrops and sunshine isn't the same thing as nuthugging the competition.

The bottom line is that Strikeforce did well in attracting young viewers and young male viewers, which are the most highly sought-after viewers by far, but did poorly in overall viewers.

The big question is if the gain in young viewers was great enough to offset the decline in overall viewers, from an ad revenue standpoint. Advertisers pay more to reach young people, so they are worth more to networks than the older demographics. For example "Family Guy" is considered a highly successful show, because it's a young viewer magnet, but its overall viewership is nothing special. It's never in the Nielsen top 20, but it's one of Fox's most lucrative shows, because of all the young viewers it attracts.

Would you give any credit to MTV's " Bully Beat Down" and Miller being on the card to attracting new young viewers?

Very good point. Strikeforce also drew them in on a Saturday which historically is the hardest night to hit that demographic.

Strikeforce and CBS are happy with the numbers and should be (and most importantly they put on a really good show to build on). I'm just saying it's not "anti-SF" to break down the overall ratings as well as the the ones which look best for the company.

The ratings were for Fedor...not Strikeforce.
