X1 event, Cabbage, Niko
Some really awesome fights. Some crappy fights. To read about the terrible producing job, skip to the last paragraph. Ugh.
A K.O. in the beginning of Rd 2 in the women's fight was memorable. The tall girl looked good and in a different level of competition compared to her opponent.
Dude training out of BJ Penn's place looked really good winning tonight. I gotta find his name. I think he has a ton of potential. I was sitting right in front of his opponent's cousin. His cousin got DOMINATED.
Kwan gave a kickboxing lesson to Danny Steele. Steele looked like he was dragged straight out of a goth bar to the fights. He too looked very outmatched.
Harvey looked to be pretty sharp on his feet at first. Maybe I judged him too early on his pro wrestler appearance. We might have a fight! There was some pretty brutal shots landed in this fight. Niko softened him up with many punches from many positions. Harvey couldn't shake him. Niko won. RNC I, think.
Cabbage, we went to high school together. That means something to me. You're better than that. Lots of talent. An anvil chin. Appeared to have arrived straight from 4 miles. Are you not having fun fighting anymore? Kick some ass man. Need a good speed/strength/conditioning coach to get some motivation? I want to lose my voice cheering for you.
The promotion was terrible. It seemed there was no ******, like usual. It got a little better because Buffer was there. No big screen for a few fights. The camera angles were really bad once they got going. Felt sorry for the people in back. Interviewer was asking questions pulled from out of a dark stinky hole. One ref didn't seem in control of the fight. He was very soft spoken and seemed to be passive with the fighters. Haole ref that seemed to know what he was doing. He got boo-ed really badly, but I blame the production more.
Seriously bad planning and producing. Sloooow improvement but, improvement nonetheless. Have some Pride in your name guys. If you're gonna fight in any event, put the time in to train.

I agree, the production values sucked. No big screen at times, then when the big screen is on there were bad camera angles. I was pissed about the unnecessary stand-ups, though. WTF was up with that? A couple of the fighters had submission attempts only to be stood up. The crowd def showed their dissapproval.
On the upside, there were some good fights. They also hyped a future Baroni/Vitale match up. That looks to be good. Also, a Mark Moreno/Ross Ebanez rematch looks to be solid. With Zach Light & Ron Jhun as future contenders.

Yeah. I think the fights are looking better. Just wish the production could start keeping pace. Icon Sport will be a great show. I hope they watch.

And I like Vitale, but he's gonna have to dig real deep for Baroni. Mayhem and Charuto will be awesome too.
