WTF EliteXC refereeing!!??
2 things that pissed me off,......... or please let me know if I'm wrong
1. In the Ricco/Silva fight, after being stood up in second round Ricco said he can't see out of his left eye and the ref lets a doctor come in and wipe the blood and check the cut. WTF?? There's no time out to wipe the blood from someone's eye or even time out period for that matter!! Like when Gonzaga said he cant' see when fighting Couture,...........
2. Kimo gets warned for hitting on the back of Tanks head and given a warning,........... but why did the ref not ask Tank,........"are you ok?? do you need 5 min??" If you're gonna give a warning for low blow or blow to the back of head, don't you have to ask the guy on the receiving end if he's ok or need time??
Was it just me or did anyone catch that too?? I mean, it may have not changed the outcomes but still, why lay out rules if you don't follow them right??

I think Ricco stoled rd 1, lost 2nd and stole rd 3 even though out of the 2 fighters he was more beat up.
Or is it just me??

It should be just you. Just like in his fight with Nog, just because you took him down and lay on top of him doing no damage, does not mean you win the round. Hell Silva did more damage with his punches from the guard.
Back on topic. The first stoppage in question is a tough one. If a fighter says he cant see, well you have to take a time out. I think it should be stopped ala Lidell v Horn when horn said "I cant see anymore" and the fight was completely stopped. Unfortunately, the ref may have been looking to get the best fight out of the two and instead of stopping it he just took a time out. It Sucks.
For the second stoppage I completely agree.

I think while ricco was on top he was winning even though didn't do much damage,........ especially in the 3rd, he was landing blows although not devestating and all silva did was cover and move around mostly,............... but when taken down in the first rd silva did do a lot of offensive punching on his back. but i still think he lost 2-1 rds

Ricco was way out of shape there. I was surprised that he made it 3 rounds without dying. Expected to see a little more out of Silva.

The calls were bad, but they did not change either of those fights.

The ref did the right thing. Well, in the first situation anyways. A ref's main concern should be for the fighters well being. If a fighter is suffering from a dangerous cut, like one that bleeds directly into the eye or is very deep, the ref should call timeout in order to let the doctor check the cut.

You're missing one thing,.............. I agree, the fighter's safety is first,........ BUT the cut was not bad and the ref did not call a stop,.......... RICCO is the one that went to the ref and say, "i can't see out of my left eye." Then the ref let a doctor in which was BS. He should've asked," Ricco do you want to continue?" If ricco said yes, the fight should've continued. If ricco said "no I can't see," then the fight should be stopped.
If a ref sees that a cut is bad in any fight, the ref stops the time and calls a doctor to check the cut itself, NOT FOR BLOOD GOING IN THE EYE. But still, THE REF STOPS THE TIME. NOT THE FIGHTER............

that's why I said at the end of the thread,............. the bad refing wouldn't have changed the outcomes but they didn't follow the rules.
