My decision to score 10-9 Shamrock is because Shamrock worked harder in the 1st round especially after it went to the ground.

2nd Round Impressions
Another too close to call round because nothing really happened. I give the round to Frye because it seemed he got the better of the knees and punch exchanges.
Shamrock looks tired to me.
10-9 Frye
Tied up going to the 3rd round!

Sambo4Life: You can't score PRIDE fights round by round with a 10-point must system. In PRIDE, the fight was judged as a whole with the following criteria in order of importance:
1) Effort made to finish the fight via KO or submission
2) Damage given to the opponent
3) Standing combinations and ground control
4) Takedowns and takedown defense
5) Aggressiveness
6) Weight (in the case that the weight difference is 10 kg/22 lb or more).
From bell to bell, Frye was the better striker. He was absolutely brutalizing Ken in close with punches and knees to the body. Ken landed some knees to the legs and to the body, but his body work wasn't half as effective as Frye's. It's a good thing Ken was in such great shape for that fight, otherwise Frye could've finished him with those body shots. Then in the third he nearly did finish Ken, dropping him with a huge left and following up with some vicious GNP, lumping up Ken's face and opening up a cut over his right eye.
Ken had some good submission attempts and was able to reverse Don after being knocked down, but Don dominated the striking, dominated the clinch, nearly knocked Ken out, and even though Ken gave his ankles a working over, he couldn't put Don away.
Close fight, but in the end, rightfully Frye's.

I wouldn't use those adjectives. It wasn't a huge left and the GNP certainly wasn't vicious. He opened a cut, but right after that it looked like Ken gave his back to Frye, then all of a sudden Shamrock is on top. After that look at Frye's face and see how much pain he's in. Actually in round 1 or 2 I forget, Frye's face looks like he's about to die.

3rd round Impressions:
WOW! What a classic!
Frye scores points early for the big knockdown and then the GnP and then Shamrock goes back to the leglocks! Wow! This is a toughman classic fight.
The winner by the closest of margins you will ever see
Don Frye
29-28

Using the 10 point system, I had Frye winning the fight 29-28 by the closest of margins.
Using the Pride system you laid out, I still have Frye winning with the same narrow margin.

Oh hell no. I would've deleted it too. Those were my 2 favorite fighters ever going at it and I couldn't pick a favorite for who i wanted to win and I gave it to frye. Ken has some good submissions and escapes but he got mauled for the most part.

That fight was awesome!! It could have gone either way and i hate that one of them had to lose but i think the Predator won, but it was razor thin!!

Oh, come on. That was a huge left hand and he was absolutely mauling Ken from the top. Big punches and some solid hammer fists, including one that opened Ken up.
And Ken did reverse Don, but they both had heel hooks to end the fight and they were both in agonizing pain.
Ken did some real damage in the first round, but Frye continuously punished him to the body, nearly knocked him out in the third, toughed out the first leg lock, and had Ken in a leg lock of his own to end the fight.
Again: Close fight for sure, but definitely Frye FTW.
