I agree also, although I understood everything I do think the writer went all around the world and dictionary to say things that were pretty simple

i dont see anything wrong with it. you might find if you read stuff a little more sophisticated you actually learn things.

MMA does not have to be written like the Highlights magazine for toddlers. that's basically saying we are all meathead dumbfucks who can't understand literary references and hyperbole. you may be, but i'm not.

I really think we have to make a distinction between the article being to bit to wordy for sherdoggers, and it being contrived or just flat out bad.

It is a thoughtful piece, I was especially interested in the distiction between ProElite and EliteXC. As for the language, do some of you really think that such words can not possibly be a part of an individual journalist natural prose? It's not that difficult words that are used. And to think that using a word like "obsequious" neccesarily means that the author means to rub his education into peoples faces or that he could possibly only think of it by using a thesaurus strikes me as ignorant.

He is guilty of missing his target audience (and in the quote by beatjnkie, confusing Alexander and Hercules), and not much else.

Edit: I basically support Chris' statement above.

Really Luke? You would NEVER find this type of word choice in any other sports article. It's unnecessary. I can't really qualify myself without sounding like an arrogant asshole, but I'll just say I go to one of the top universities in the nation, and I think writing MMA articles like this is plain stupid.

It's way too verbose, and comes off as pretentious. You can write an MMA article and come off as intelligent without the philosophical ****phors.
what univesity would dat be??
