I really think we have to make a distinction between the article being to bit to wordy for sherdoggers, and it being contrived or just flat out bad.

is a thoughtful piece, I was especially interested in the distiction between ProElite and EliteXC. As for the language, do some of you really think that such words can not possibly be a part of an individual journalist natural prose? It's not
that difficult words that are used. And to think that using a word like "obsequious" neccesarily means that the author means to rub his education into peoples faces or that he could possibly only think of it by using a thesaurus strikes me as ignorant.
He is guilty of missing his target audience (and in the quote by beatjnkie, confusing Alexander and Hercules), and not much else.
