maybe people are actually fans of phil, dumbass. while he's had his fair share of losses just like every other fighter, phil has also pulled out some wins where everyone else counted him out. Realistically the WW division is much deeper and much more talented overall than the MW division. Moving a weight division down is usually what people do when they have a distinct physical disadvantage against the opponents they face. Something I have not yet seen with Phil. He seems of average height for a MW and physically stronger than most his opponents. Phil will be a tall WW but he won't be able to cary more weight than anyone else and may actually wind up being physically outpowered by his stockier opponents. Dropping weight doesn't automatically make you a better fighter or even make you the bigger guy in the ring. I wish Phil luck on his quest to be the best in a division but he has a long path and a lot to prove before he gets there.
