Why do you like/dislike women in MMA without being sexist

Let's get the debate into this thread and leave the Smackgirl thread for those ACTUALLY interested in Women's MMA.

And there is NOTHING wrong with that. Got it? Good
My fundamental problem is that I do not understand your reasoning behind not liking women's MMA. If you don't like it because it is DIFFERENT than men's MMA, that is fine. If you do not like it because you view it as less entertaining/not as good, then I am entitled to disagree. We both share our conflicting views in a forum (such as this) and we both have fun growing socially.

If you are not entertained by fighters who are not at the top level, I am curious as to what about MMA is entertaining to you? Is it the heavy hands of the top fighters? Their skill and technical proficiency? Or simply knowing that they are the best in the world? Or someother thing I did not think to write? All of the points I listed could be argued to exist at the lower levels of competition (except the top fighters in the world part). Maybe it is the combination of all of them together that draws you to MMA?

I did not mean to offend you. Just attempting to point out holes in your argument and understand what you really are getting at. If you check my past posts, you will see that I did that to someone who was pro-women in MMA.

You know, the guy doesn't have to like women's mma. I don't enjoy women's basketball. It's not because I'm sexist or that the women aren't extremely skilled, I just don't enjoy watching it very much.

Don't let Aerts/Mir33 get to you. If he wants to bash women in MMA, let him be. Me? I enjoy watching women in MMA. Just bought Smackgirl Third Season: Best of 2003 Vol.1 last week and I love it

I am very curious as well as to why some people would be anti-womens mma. I watch mma to watch mma. Period. Male / Female means nothing to me. I love the sport.

yea i hate WNBA, it just isnt as entertaining. i dont hate womens MMA but i would rather watch men, i have never seen a female fighter with striking that impresses me but i have seen some really good women jitsu girls. i'll watch womens grappling matches and womens boxing just fine, but not MMA, it isnt bringing down the sport at all or anything. i am not being sexist at all and if you think i am you are dumb and close-minded.

Perfectly said. Its part of the sport and its doing nothing negative to mma.

i wanna see the best people fight, period. And women fighters arent the best. Womens boxing/mma can be entertaining but its more of a sideshow.

Bottom line is that MMA is entertainment, as are other sports. There are some men who are not entertained by watching women fight but who are entertained by men fighting. As for the reasons, there are a million theories but no one knows for sure. Women's MMA may become popular, but it will always be second best to mens, and that fact alone will prevent many from watching (as it does in golf, basketball, hockey etc.).
