Hello Everyone.
As you know, about 4-5 months ago i begun the process of forming my Thesis around the area of Australian fight-sports and in particular, Mixed Martial Arts events. Not just pure MMA events, either. Events in particular that had any combination of Boxing/MuayThai/Grappling/K-1/ or MMA fights. What resulted was a specific research question:
"Mixed Martial Arts Event Management: Who attends, why they attend & how to maintain attendance"
This research subject was chosen for a variety of reasons, primarily, there is limited funding for the necessary research to encourage progress and growth in the MMA supporter and participation base. This presented an opportunity to contribute important basic statistical, anecdotal & summarised information, on which further research may be based. The aim of the study was to determine the demographics of the population that attend and financially support Mixed Martial Arts and MMA events in Australia. Attendance and reasons for continued attendance to these events was also recorded. The objective was to provide key summarised and statistical information to both the events promoters and the larger MMA community. The process of obtaining this information was designing a survey 32 questions long, recruiting volunteers to take part in the surveys over a period of 4 weeks, then statistically analysing the results & methodically presenting the data, results & conclusions.
