Yea, they'll feed him 1 or 2 cans as always so he can win and gain some more hype and hope from the fans. Then they'll give him a B-level fighter and he'll get owned.

Nah, he's probably gonna retire soon and focus on his gym. Maybe he'll be the Jeremy Horn type.

The problem I have with shooto is that I can't find it in english, and I can't understand the announcing or the text, so I can't tell who's who in a fight, unless it's someone like Mamoru or something where they really look distinct.

Probably. One of his guys already qualified for the All Japan Amateur Championships this year, and I think he's got some more pupils in the East Japan Amateur tournies coming up. He'll probably fight at the 10/14 Yokohama card, though.

Not saying all japanese people look alike, just that I can't pick out the names of the fighters in any given fight, so if I don't already know who they are for some other reason, I don't know who's in the fight.

That's why most of the guys in Shooto wear ridiculous shorts.

The bigger write-up, from http://completevaletudoaccess.blogspot.com :
Quote:
Two of Shooto's aces will have to combat a Lithuanian invasion on September 8th.
Shooto promoter Sustain has announced that the September 8th Korakuen Hall card will feature Shooto world champions Shikou Yamashita and Mamoru Yamaguchi competing in non-title affairs against fighters from the rings of Lithuania. In what may amount to showcase fights for the two title holders, Yamashita will meet Lithuanian sambo champion Grazvydas Smailys, while Mamoru will do battle with youngster Erikas Suslovas.
Shooto world light heavyweight champion Shikou Yamashita toiled in obscurity in the Shooto ring for years, competing sporadically in perhaps Shooto's weakest active division. After the retirement of long-reigning champion Masanori Suda vacated the light heavyweight championship, Yamashita was given the opportunity to rematch former adversary Dustin Denes for the vacant title this past April.
Denes and Yamashita squared off for the Shooto strap at Absolute Fighting Championships 16 in Boca Raton, Florida. While the AFC is not an official Shooto-sanctioned event, promoters of the AFC wanted to give Denes the opportunity to compete for the 83 kilogram crown in front of his home crowd, to which the International Shooto Commission consented.
However, the Sapporo native was able to upset Denes in front of his home crowd, taking a hard fought unanimous decision at the end of fifteen minutes, in a bout which saw constant warring both on the ground, and on the feet. With the victory, Yamashita became the fourth light heavyweight world champion of professional Shooto, following in the footsteps of former champions Kenji Kawaguchi, Erik Paulson, and Masanori Suda.
Grazvydas Smailys sports a 8-3 mixed martial arts record, with the bulk of his work coming in his native of Lithuania. This past may, Smailys made his first venture outside of his home country, competing in Finland's The Cage venue, where he took a decision victory over Johan Antonsson. A former Lithuanian sambo champion in 2002, Smailys is ranked third in the Shooto Europe 83 kilogram rankings, though he is likely best known for being twice defeated by now-infamous Kazushi Sakuraba opponent, Kestutis Smirnovas.
2005 hasn't been an easy road for Shooto's afroed ace Mamoru Yamaguchi. In March, Mamoru put his bantamweight championship on the line against aptly nicknamed Shooto prodigy Shinichi "BJ" Kojima, fighting to a majority draw in a bout which many fans, and one Shooto judge, felt Mamoru had won.
Fighting again less than two months later, Mamoru stepped into the ring with bantamweight bad boy and antagonist Setsu Iguchi. Mamoru assumed control of the grudge match, blasting the hard hitting Iguchi with powerful knees in the clinch, and crisp combinations in the corner of the ring, forcing the ringside doctor to stop the bout on account of a nasty gash on the forehead of Iguchi.
Perhaps to give the charismatic champion a breath of air before a possible title defense against top ranked Masatoshi Abe, Mamoru will take on novice Lithuanian grappler Erikas Suslovas. Suslovas sports a 4-1 mark in MMA competition in his young career. Training out of the Audra Gym, perhaps Lithuania's best gym in terms of quality ground technicians, Suslovas recently won the 60 kilogram division in the first Abu Dhabi Combat Club grappling competition held in Lithuania. Suslovas will look to make a solid showing for himself at Korakuen Hall, despite being cast in the "opponent" role for the reigning 56 kilogram king.
Shooto officials have not yet decided whether or not the bout between Suslovas and Mamoru will be contested as a two round Class B bout, or three round Class A bout. Officials will further review Suslovas' professional resume before deciding to grant him a Class A license, at which time the particulars of the bout will be announced.
