That already happened when Overeem beat Buentello.

Angry

I thought this thread was going to be about Kharitonov vs. Ferguson being announced but it wasn't.

I like overeem but Sergei is just too tough for him...he's got a chin of granite and will keep coming no matter what happens...it still amazes me that he dislocated his shoulder in the first fight, and took tons of punishment on top of that and still didn't tap or give up. They say that throwing your shoulder out like that is one of the most painful things you can experience.

They're both dangerous but Sergei can take what Overeem will dish out, but Overeem can't take what Sergei will bring. Basically, barring another shoulder injury just look at the second fight.

i still think sergei is top 5 heavyweight in the world.
his loss to overeem was all injury, and his loss to Aleks was more cause of him taunting and gloating. his only other loss was to nog but everyone but fedor losses to him. I would like to Sergei fight 3-4 times a year.

as for the question, Sergei kills Allistar next time. kinda like hid did to Rizzo

Right.

But if Sergei beat Overeem would he come back? FEG likely has plans for him in DREAM with all the matchup possibilities over there. Factor in DREAM and Elite XC working together in the near future......I guess they could always co-promote with Strikeforce as well.

In fact it almost happened recently, when Yvel pulled out of the fight with Overeem. No doubt Sergei would wreck him again, he is just a different class.

If you justified the two other loses you can do the Nog one also, because it was an even mach, Nog didn’t do anything convincing to win it could have gone to Sergei’s way. But it didn’t just because of Nog’s name, you have to do a lot more to win against him.

I don't see Strikeforce wanting their champ getting KO'd by an "outsider" in any sort of talent exchange. That would mean Sergei would have to come back or drop the belt. Would Strikeforce want their new lineage for their heavyweight belt screwed up over this? Likely not.

Maybe if Sergei fought someone else, sure.
This fight can happen in the future because Alistair has not only contract with Strikeforce but with FEG as well. There's no need for any co-promotion to finalize this bout.

As always Overeem will start having a good fight hurting Sergei a little bit with his striking. After more or less 30 seconds Overeem will gas and Sergei will knock him out easily.

is it just me, or is Overeem looking JACKED right now. He used to fight as a middleweight, but he is looking solid as a HW i must say.

Having said that, Kharitonov by anything he wants.
