Re: Showtime Reality Check-Jake Rossen
Todays' article was great with very fair and good points. The point about knees on the ground and how the rules are very vague was great.
I personally think knees to the head should be allowed on the ground. I think it would increase the action, add even more reality and cause more people on the receiving end to want to stand-up again on their own without having such an option of laying there to grapple, not that it is a bad thing to do that, grappling is a whole other science, it just adds more options and action to those on the ground.
In a situation like Renzo/Shamrock, I do agree that hits to the back of the head should still be illegal, I am not a doctor but it makes sense, although I really don't know much of the difference between getting a CroCop kick to the head, loiseau elbow from the mount, or a knee to the back of the head. But like it said in the article, what about knees to the back of the neck??? Is there really a rule on this??? I don't think Shamrock purposely did it, and I don't think Renzo put on an act. I think Frank was looking for a way out in the heat of the moment. Before talking shit, Shamrock went over to see if Gracie was ok, that was the first thing he did and was moved away by the ref. The shit talking, show boating is just part of his game like Tito and Krazy Horse, all just an act to hype things up. I mean there is a rivalry right??? So why not??
