Card wise, UFC definetely has something to be afraid off.

But mainstream MMA, unless affliction pulls off some sick ad campaign, will be watching UFC that night.

Free UFC fights against a nascent org's first ppv?
That will hurt Affliction very badly.
I'll watch Affliction live and watch UFC on my DVR.
But for the people that would consider watching Affliction live that are more casual... free will whoop ppv's ass...

im looking towards both. Who else is fighting on the Affliction card??

I think it is gonna be a tough fight for Silva but then again I though Keith Jardine was gonna be a tough fight.

They have to fill out a card first & this is on somewhat short notice. Anyway Affiliction is gonna be a better card, I'll just record the ufc event if they do it & watch if after Affliction.

I don't think anyone will be able to say that the slapped together UFC card will be as good as Affliction.

But the UFC could make a pretty entertaining card on short notice.

to UFC's advantage:
name power for the fighting org
free
more promotion experience
I feel confident that the UFC will advertise this card more than Affliction advertises theirs
might be able to put a bigger name on the card (as far as casual recognition)

to Affliction's advantage:
recognizable name that is associated with fighting
better card (for the hardcore)

I hope all of these upstart promotions can take the heat the UFC is dishing out because the UFC wouldn't put on shows like this with this kind of quality unless they had strong competition. As long as promotions can put on Fedor/Tim type of main events the UFC won't try to pull a Bisping/Evans Main event ever again.

It's GREAT for fans. Embrace.
Yes thank you. I'm a big UFC fan, but let's be honest everyone, some of their cards have been rather, well... light?!!?
Besides UFC "validation," look at UFC 83 (aside from GSP Serra, nothing to get excited about). The UFC has been rather stingy when it comes to providing the best matchups for us sometimes. Hope they raise the bar because of Affliction.
