Nah, it's three syllables Ma, Sa, To.

This is a very mysterious topic, I think.

Every Japanese girl that I've spoken to who has come here to study that likes "kakutougi" only seem to know K-1 as well, and to be honest, I've spoken to quite a few.

The strange thing is that only a little over half of them liked Masato, while the others thought he was too arrogant. Maybe it was just the "batch" that I was talking to, but outside of these contrasting views on Masato, they still didn't know the difference between K-1 and Pride. That then leaves the question as to *why* they even like it in the first place, if a) they don't like Masato, and b) think greats like Sakuraba fight for K-1 (true story, there).

Must investigate further...

As for the kakutougi = "K-1" part, I think for a lot of people it is one of those generalized brand names like "band-aid" or "kleenex". I mean, it's just easier to say "gimme a band-aid" than "give me an adhesive bandage strip", and most people can't be bothered to learn all the different brands.

Wow, this thread has proceeded very well without someone saying something real stupid yet. I imagine if the forums weren't split, how this thread would either, in the old MMA forum: (a) have become stupid by now, or (b) would be on page 8 beneath the latest Fedor will kill everyone and crucify Jesus thread

Man, why can't we have contests like that here? I'd give anything to go drinks some suds and eat poutine with GSP and the Crow (although they probably wouldn't eat that artery-clogging goodness!).

On the other hand, with 73 people wanting to speak to Sudo on that cruise, I can just imagine most people didn't talk to him very long...
