There aren't any formal, universal weight classes yet, though 105.8lbs and 135lbs have pretty much crystalized, with all sorts of catchweights and what not in between. Beyond 135, its pretty much 'openweight' competition.

For the most part the rules are similiar to whatever the Men's division may be, three five-minute rounds, etc, but in certain places there are particulars in place:
- Smackgirl doesn't hold strikes to the face when on the ground as standard, as well as only allows 30 seconds of time on the ground before a stand-up. All fights except for special bouts and championships last 2 rounds, and if the latter, three.
- The state of California only allows three minute rounds in women's competition. No one yet knows why.
- Pancrase and DEEP do not allow strikes to the face, but don't enforce a time limit on the ground.

The thing about Fujii is that while demonstratively elite, she's largely untested against the best. Tavares was a challenging win, but since then one can only really look at wins over Misaki Takimoto, Masako Yoshida, and Tama-Chan as evidence of her abilities, and those three are middle-tier. The fault lies in her body frame (which of course isn't her fault), which doesn't allow her to cut to 48kg (105lbs), the nearest competitive division) since she's shredded as fuck fighting at 113/14 pounds. Thus her going up in weight to fight 130-ish Tama-Chan and Yoshida having to meet Fujii at weight for their fight. The only real opponent in proximity to her natural weight is Yuka Tsuji. That fight, according to Josh Barnett, is talked about all the time in Japan as the MEGABOUT of women's mma, and perhaps or that reason, much like the formerly anticipated Cro-Cop/Fedor bout, won't happen anytime soon.

Another option is that her boyfriend can get a bullhorn.
