source? cuz Kedzie wanted 140 (refer Gina AND Julie's prefight online interviews) and I doubt you're quoting him.

Well, its not exactly the same thing you know. Setting up a fight for 140 and setting one up for 135 and not making it are 2 diff. things.

Barring any injury or wish from Tonya to fight at 140 instead (like Kedzie) the only thing this does is belie Gina's statement of wanting to compete at 135 and CONTINUE the question of whether she can make it.

My point was that Carano is too big for 135 and shouldn't be ranked in that division. Which seems fair, since she has never made 135 and is now fighting at 140.

The evidence suggests that with Kedzie it was a case of not wanting to cut to 135 and then find that Carano wasn't going to make it.

She def. shouldn't be ranked.

Where'd you hear that(evidence)? Just for edification sake, then I'll stop referencing the int.'s and cause for the the Destiny fight to have been at 140. but at this point, until she steps feet off scale I'm conceding giving her the benefit of the doubt.

btw, it looks like the closest thing we'll see to Barnett/Couture 2 is, if and when they coach & corner their students in Gina and Shayna. It'll help legit FeM.M.A in the naysayers eyes, imo.

How did I just know derUber had made this thread?

Anyway, Carano's weight problems are really the least of her worries, as she's not really fighting anyone really significant.

Icon6 September 15th Elite XC-Uprising and Gina's return

I have just found this forum and have a question I misposted elsewhere:

re. : September 15th Elite XC-Uprising and Gina's return

Having seen

Tonya Evinger vs. Ginelle Marquez-Lee in
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsOOi5OxD8Y

I wonder what you folks who fight yourselves or tracked female MMA
think of the *Gina Carano vs. Tonya Evinger* match-up.

I expected a name I'd heard of from those Bodog fights or the rankings I found here:
http://www.mmaranks.com/fem

I hope promoters are not feeding Gina Carano opponents
who are good enough to be matches which give her something to do and aren't obvious push overs, but not really the top fight opponents who could seriously dent her momentum

... I'm old enough to recall the fight described this way "June 28th 1997 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas was supposed to be the biggest fight night of the decade in men's boxing ... so who would showcase women's boxing on the undercard against Christy? Not the feared Lucia Rijker, who could have made it the women's fight of the decade!"

Hitomi Akano is defending her smackgirl title tomorrow. Should be another great event. Just got my tickets.

I think we all know that's exactly what's happening.

The other problem is that Gina fights at "Carano-weight" (140, or failing that whatever weight she turns up at). It appears she can't make 135, which is where all the real action is.

Akano VS Hashi

Should be a war. Those 2 have been rivals for some time now.

Tsuji is also defending in the main event.
