I found out today, there is a stronger than strong chance I'm going to go to the almighty Karouken Hall and watch the Dong get unleashed. I have more cuts and bruises from training with that guy. I absolutely can't take him down, 100% no. I told him if he doesn't win, I won't be his friend anymore. I also told him that his American fans are rooting for him and he was suprised and greatful.
Su-hi has a fight October 20th. I don't know where the hell at though. I heard the "master" mention WXF or some shit.

mind you, Yoon already beat Takimoto twice (out of two fights) in international judo...and choked him unconscious on one occasion with sangaku (triangle choke)
Makoto 'sleeping pill' Takimoto is the least favorite MMA judoka for me...

I saw that fight back when it aired on PPV in the US. I don't remember the details but I remembered it being very close and very entertaining. This was the fight that made me a Yoon fan(even sort of a Takimoto fan), and that's when I started following him. I found his comments about not wanting to go back to his home country until he wins kind of amusing, but it made me want to root for him even more.
Anyways, me wanting Yoon to fight Takimoto is more about avenging a lost and improving his poor record. It just such a eye sore that I almost want him to fight cans exclusively for his next 3 fights at the very least. And I don't think Takimoto is a can, just someone the current Yoon can definitely beat.

Your friend is welcome to train at the gym, but needless to say, he should come in shape.

Very cool... thanks Brandon.
My buddy would definitely be coming in in shape. He is almost done with his service in the US Navy. I know he was trainging his ass off because he was thinking of doing their BUDS program (you have to be in shape for that) if he decided to stay in... but I think he is ready to be done.
He better go to Korea now... or i'll just have to heckle him till he does haha.
Anyways... much appreciated.

I agree Takimoto is not a can!
but I just don't like his attitude since he entered MMA stage...he has become realllllly cocky and his fighting style is just not to the same standard as his cockiness

Hey, i posted this thread earlier in the grappling forum,
Training in S. Korea and Japan
but I'm not getting much luck on finding a MMA gyms that would fit my needs.
Here's my situation:
Quote:
I'm planning to study abroad for the summers of 2007-2008. One year first in S. Korea and then one year in Japan. I'll probably study at Yonsei or Koryo university in Seoul. Then maybe Kansai Gaidan in Osaka or ICU in Tokyo. What are good quality MMA gyms around those areas? Also, what are their schedules like so I can keep that in mind when scheduling my classes? And finally, what's better: Osaka or Tokyo?
If it helps: I've been studying Japanese for two years and practicing it with my Japanese friends, and listening to j-rock and watching anime. I'm also half-Korean and also practice Korean alot with my Korean friends, my mom and sister, and watch k-dramas and listen to k-pop.
My MMA experience: I have a judo and tkd background from childhood. Currently I train muay thai, and no gi bjj/vale tudo. Planning to add bjj with the gi on my next semester when my schedule allows it.
|
I was hoping that ppl in this thread would have a lot more information on MMA gyms around Yonsei or Korea university. I know about John Frankle's bjj classes at Yonsei on saturdays and MWF mornings, as well as a bjj place near the university but I don't know what MMA gyms are close by to either Yonsei or Korea uni. I'm interested in Jung Shin Kwam and Korea Top Team, but I don't know where they are located in relation. It would also be cool if I could get some information on schedules.

JSK starts at 7, not near either university
KTT starts earlier, maybe 4, not near either university, in Kangnam.
if you or your family understands korean you should look on naver or daum.net.

i don"t know of any gyms near those universtities. I will ask but I'm pretty sure I already know. John Frankle is your absolute best bet. He can lead you in the right direction. His team is quality.
you really need to search on daum and naver, if you can, this is something that I can't do.
I will email John and ask him, but naturally he would want you to come to his gym.
