From http://www.infinitemma.com

Quote:
This weekend will be a big weekend for Australian MMA. Elvis Sinosic will be competing against Italian fighter, Alessio Sakara in UFC 57. Main event on that card will be Randy Couture vs Chuck Liddell.

Young Gold Coast Mixed Martial Artist, Jacob Sidic will make his debut on a Japanese show against a yet to be known opponant.

Also in Japan, Ian Schaffa will be main event on a K1 Max show taking on well known kickboxer and former K1 champion, Masato. Mike Zambidis vs Buakaw Por Pramuk is scheduled on the same card.

Goodluck to all the guys from everyone at infinitemma.com!!
Schaffa on the right preparing for his matchup with Masato. Picture from sportsnavi.

EDIT: Just as i post this i find that Jacob Sidic's Korean opponant has pulle dout of the fight with Jacob. Tragic for the 17 year old who no doubt was looknig forward to his Japanese debut. The korean fighters pulled out with another korean due to 'politics'.

It sure is dude Toshi is his name, cant spell his last name. We have a guy going into Spartan in March. I want to go but I am a bit low at the moment and my stand-up needs work, and i need to lose some weight. Toshi will send me this year if all goes according to plan. I went to the last spartan and found a lot of the guys didn't look they wanted to trade. Not knocking it at all, just a observation.

Nah i understand it all depends on what style and who their fighting IMO. even more-so with more advanced fighters. Like in the main event, the aussie that was fighting, i know he can stand and trade but his submissions are awesome and he was easily able to take his Japanese opponant down and tap him out.

Adrian and Jacob against both of their opponants werent scared to stand and trade, but it also went to the ground a fair bit. In the amateurs what you are talking about is more common, but that depends on who is fighting who. Two MMA guys more confidant in their standup are more likely to stand and trade while if its a kickboxer vs grappler or grappler vs grappler than more likely to end up on the ground.

However i have seen grappler vs grappler go toe to toe as well. It varies a bit.

Anyways enough of my rambling. I have heard great stuff about your instructor. Looking forward to seeing you teammate compete. Ill be celebrating a bucksnight at Spartan. Will be a big one. LOL

I completely agree with you, just thought it was interesting. My instructor is one of the judges, I got to sit with him ringside for a bit last time. That dude the pink typhoon was just strange.

If you know anyone who wants to train with us let me know and I will send details. I didn't see any heavyweights last time, I am 6'3" and i weigh 119 kilos. Used to weigh 145 before I started to train with Toshi. He is one awesome dude, tough as nails and knows hios stuff.
