Why Aoki lost

Aoki lost for one reason and one reason alone. Because he did not wear his magic rainbow submission pants. and i for one cannot be happier loved to see him crying as hellboy celebrated

Really? I thought it was because he got punched in the head too hard.

The ref certainly seemed to try and give him every opportunity to win. Kawajiri too.

You don't think so?
Stopping the fight with Alvarez at an awkward time for a doctor intervention, then not calling the fight after Kawajiri was finished which back-fired and caused him unnecessary damage... Missing the elbow that cut Alvarez... Then the docs not letting Alvarez continue to the final after it seemed he wanted to soldier on... Choosing Hansen for the alternate whom Aoki held a win over, perhaps thinking he was a better match up for Aoki... Then Hansen couldn't touch Aoki without the ref acting like Aoki was getting fouled...
I am still suspicious of the Kid pullout, too. Don't think they wanted to ruin a possible matchup with Faber by having Joe beat him first.
All in all it left a bad taste in my mouth, and not unjustified... Seemed very fishy.

yeah it seemed like they were really pulling for an all japanese final. it was great to see hansen clock that motherfucker too. i think alvarez would have done the same thing.

Well, if it was, in the end they can stack the decks but they can't get in there and fight for them. Most of the funny stuff was mentioned in the Sherdog write-up, and I am sure I am not the only other one it looked awkward to. I am not saying the fights were a sham or worked by the fighters, just that the promoters were favoring locals, which is by no means unheard of or even something I can really blame them for.
