This is a new S. Korean org that appears to be trying to out due Spirit MC by spending the money it takes to get some bigger name fighters. The Kahn used to be a franchise of K1 called K1 KAHN.
Also, I'm pretty sure that they don't have UFC-like contracts, which SMC does.
It was a glitzy event with K1 style kickboxing and MMA mixed in. It was held at the Olympic Gymnasium, which is huge. Also, without a doubt the weirdest announcer in the history of combat sports.
Couldn't have been that many people there, so I doubt they made any money. It was; however, live on TV so I watched while I waited for Strikeforce to download from a totally legal website. Here are the fights worth mentioning. Sorry, if I get the names spelled wrong bc I am translating from Korean and I'm a redneck.
MMA matches were 2 x 5min rounds with one extra tie-breaker possible.
Kickboxing matches were 3 x 3min rounds with one extra tie-breaker possible.
Match #1: MMA
Seung-ho Yang def. Yuki Tokoshikae via U.D.
Match #2: Kickboxing
Bushir Korlosa def. Shinbi Taeoong via U.D. with extra round
I know the spelling has to be wrong. Sorry.
Match #3: MMA
Myung Ho Bae (Team M.A.D.) def.
Erik Oganov (Red Devil) via U.D.
Bae is the boyfriend of FeMMA star
Su Hi Ham and trains with
Dong Hyun Kim. Bae is young, quick, powerful, and also a natural grappler. He is one of a handful of Korean fighters with real experience in Japan, fighting in M.A.R.S.
Match #4: Kickboxing
Sae-ki Kim def. Kishiri via TKO Rd. 2
Match #5: Kickboxing
Soo-jung Lim def. Ashley Lee via doctor stoppage Rd. 3
Ashley showed a lot of heart fighting with a wrecked nose.
Match #6: MMA
Tomohiko Hori def.
Jong-man Kim via Split Dec. in the extra round
Kim used to be ranked #9 in the world. He looked terrible in this fight. I don't think he should have even gotten the extra round.
Match #7: Kickboxing
Alexey Ignashov def. Yang-nae Yoo via U.D.
Match #8: Kickboxing
Francois Botha def. Kalkolai via. U.D.
Match #9: MMA
Mu-bae Choi ( Team Tackle ) def.
Gary Goodridge via TKO Rd. 2
Choi was looking to wrestle and ate some of Big Daddy’s best shots. Choi ended up catching Goodridge with a right and sent him to the canvas face first in an all too familiar fashion. Choi did his “Saturday Night Fever” pose.
Why Big Daddy, why?
