K-1 stumbling around.........
What is going on??? I read they were suppose to provide some fiscal statements yet when they turned in papers yesterday it was the wrong papers. This coming from a multi million dollar corporation. Are they even serious???? We are a week out and they don't even have a license. What the hell are they doing???
Pride sells and K-1 could've of stepped up to the plate and been the big player in the MMA world and they can't even get there crap together for one show in the U.S.. I've always said K-1 Hero's was never taking seriously (compared to there Kickboxing brand) and this latest fiasco is the proof. Competition is gone and they are stumbling around like a small time promoter putting on his first show in the U.S..

I wouldn't be surprised if its more a case of CSAC, deep in Dana's pockets, telling porkies in an attempt to sabotage the show.

Its not all that far fetched. Corruption and dog tactics have been rife in boxing, so why not MMA? Did the UFC not hold a show in the UK, after ignoring the region for such a long time, on the same night as Cage Rage the largest European competitor, even though Cage Rage announced their event first?
K-1 are proposing a massive show, with one of the greatest rematches of all time (saku v royce) which will surely draw in the purists. Then they have Lesnar, the mainstream tap, providing a large amount of publicity, being the first major WWE product to switch to MMA.
So why would K-1 Heroes, a top tier professional MMA promotion, suddenly be dropping the ball on what could be the biggest show they've ever put on?

Because they aren't used to dealing with the red tape of a state athletic commission. They can do whatever the fuck they want to do in Japan because there is no government oversight. Pride had similar problems making the adjustment to fighting under state regulation. American promoters are used to this shit, so they file their paperwork WAY in advance and have contingency plans in place just in case the SAC gives them problems. Japanese promoters file their paperwork at the last minute and end up shocked when the SAC doesn't approve of everything the moment it arrives.
Strikeforce has no trouble at all with CSAC, and they have already proven they can draw HUGE crowds and generate tons of cash at the gate. If the CSAC was really in league with the UFC, why haven't they made Strikeforce's life miserable? Because Strikeforce knows what the fuck they are doing and have all their I's dotted and T's crossed months before the event takes place.
K1 would have been wise to utilize the sanctioning expertise of their fellow alliance member. Instead, they chose to try it on their own, did a half-assed job, and got bit in the ass as a result.

if this event doesn't go down, i'll feel really bad for the guys that are flying in from out of town for this event. they still have to pay for hotels and airfare, plus they're not gonna have shit to do on sat night.
if that's how it goes down, u guys can shoot me a pm.
i'll let u guys know where all the good restaurants, clubs, bars, and especially strip clubs are.

Have they not had to deal with the Athletic Commsions with past K-1 events held in the US?
