What do you think of the Yamma Pit?
Well, I for one was excited to hear that this new surface and new idea was coming to MMA. I am curious as to what all of you think about Yamma Pit.
These are my thoughts good and bad.
First off, they brought in tons of old UFC vets, that was great! Came up with a new idea and concept in order to keep the fights active. Had the tournament format which is good.
As for the Yamma pit, it was a big failure in my mind.
You could see guys slipping on the mat. It was way too slippery to get a good footing. Yamma creators should have done their research and made the mat twice as sticky as the UFC mat is.
Alot of UFC fighters try to get on to the logos on the mat in order to get good footting. Yamma not only had a slippery mat, but had no logos on it.
This yamma pit is obviously built for wrestlers.
Now I don't hate wrestling, its very effective, but I think if you want to bring back the excitement and action of the old UFC, you need to take out wrestling factors all together if possible.
Yamma pit makes it way easier for a wrestler to get you down and hold you down. You cannot walk up the wall as easy as before, so basically it should be called "wrestlers pit" not yamma pit.
Who wants to see a bunch of decisions over and over again... each match? I want to see someone decisively win.
If you look at all the matches, 95% of them were won by decision. Who wants to see all fights going to decision. I want to see submission, tko or ko.
If yamma pit was designed to stop decisions and create action, it failed.
What do you all think about the yamma pit? Did you like it?
