How is Hong Man Choi, Lindland, and Hunt "ducking top competition"

All I ever hear about on every thread is how Fedor is ducking top competition. And I would really like someone to explain to me why they think that. I'm not being a smart ass. I genuinely want to know why people are saying that his last fights are not against top competition.

Hong Man Choi: Deadly striker. Nearly impossible to take down with an imposing 350 lbs+ frame. Fedor could not take him down from the clinch (unless you call having your opponent fall on top of you a takedown) so I think any HW would have problems taking him down. Basically the only way this mamoth can be beaten by any MMA fighter is by submission. I would like to see a top 5 fighter with weak sub game like Sylvia fight HMC. I personally think Silvia would have very little to no chance at victory.

Matt Lindland: I agree that Matt is well undersized for the HW division. However I believe that he was (and possibly still is) one of the best P4P fighters in the world. He is a gritty competitor with lethal wrestling. He can also take a punch. I agree that Matt is not a top HW contender but he is an immensly talented fighter.

Mark Hunt: I think everyone can agree that Mark has one of the best chins in the sport. Not to mention incredible striking ability and, as we seen in the Fedor fight, a much improved ground game. I personally think that if Mark was in the UFC right now (provided he could make the 265lbs weight cap) he would be a top contender, if not champion.

I am by not means an expert in MMA, but this is how I see things. Its obvious by the majority of the posts on Sherdog that I am a minority. So I would love to hear what other people think. Cheers.

Is that a serious question or are you just trying to piss people off by listing off stupid reasons why, in your world, the fights are legit? They are not! Hunt was the most legit but far from a fighter who should be fighting the "#1 fighter on the face of the planet", don't ya think?

Because Fedor is considered the best HW/fighter in the world. Fans expect him to fight legitimate top HW competition.

HMC was just a freakshow fight. It's the 7'3" 350 pound Korean monster against the smaller yet more skilled Russian superstar. HMC was 1-0 in MMA. His only win coming against a television personality in another joke/freakshow fight.

Matt Lindland's natural weight-class is 185 pounds, a full 45 pounds below Fedor's fighting weight. What if Rampage's next title defense after Forrest was against Jon Fitch? You wouldn't find that a little ridiculous?

Mark Hunt comes closest to fitting the bill. I suppose he was borderline top 10 at the time. I've long considered him overrated and not well-rounded enough to be considered a legit top fighter, but that's neither here nor there. Fedor took the fight with an injured toe which severely hampered his training. Gotta give him props for that.

I've never said Fedor has been ducking competition. But it's indisputable to say that since the CC win, he hasn't fought the kind of competition you'd expect the best HW fighter in the world to fight. Maybe that's his and his management's fault, maybe it isn't, that's another debate.

so Matt Serra was so much more deserving to fight GSP last april than Hunt was to fight Fedor? You = retard, plz quit watching MMA.

I'm sure sokoudjou didn't deserve to fight Lil Nog and Diaz definitely didn't deserve to fight Gomi...but shit happens right?
