Has anyone ever done so little with number of mounts that Shields had?
I've been following MMA since 2003.
I'm a keyboard warrior who calls sherdog his second home
I think Fedor is the best fighter in the world and p4p best fighter in the world.
I think CBS/STrikeforce should've never put Jake Shields in 5 fucking rounds fight against Mayhem in first place when Mayhem has a legit BJJ game but lacks wrestling to keep it standing against Jake Shields. Jacare couldn't finish Mayhem and it's Shields we are talking about. BJ > Shields any given night.
I think that no one, in the history of MMA, has done so little damage with a number of mounts Jake had in that fight. Jake had like 14~20 mounts on Mayhem, but he just..I don't know....at one point...it looked really like something we shouldn't be seeing on national tv.........I mean..BJJ match or wrestling match is more interesting because they are doing stuff....this......a lot lot lot lot lot of manhugging. No ground and pound, but tap here and there by Jake Shields......I think Mayhem has done more if you take away takedowns and dominant positioning by Jake Shields...not that he won...just putting how little damage Jake has done in perspective....
" Well done, Jake.. Well done....I hope CBS/Strikeforce never put you on the same card as Fedor though because I would be watching it."

You're a wise man. And there is nothing truer than this statement "BJ > Shields any given night".

He was too focused on maintaining dominant position and not focused on finishing the fight. He didn't want to risk losing position by going for a submission or posturing up for strikes. I give him credit for controlling and dominating Miller on the ground for so long, but that is no way to fight, and definitely not a way gain fans.

Yeah Mayhem has great defense. The fight went exactly like I thought it would. Shields overall grappling won the fight. Does anything think Mayhem would have won with Japanese judging? Aka takedowns don't matter as much, more emphases on ending the fight. idk

I feel sorry for you. I really do.
The friggn guy put on a an absolute clinic against Miller last night. A friggn clinic. I've never in my life seen Mayhem dominated, and controlled on the ground like that. Miller is incredibly crafty and slick on the ground. Pretty much impossible to submit, and can move out of compromising positions extremely well. Jake may not have the best gnp in the world, but his control is second to none. It also doesn't help when you can't throw elbows on the ground in mount. What he did to Miller last night was extremely impressive. His grappling is totally off the hook. Most are like Jacare, this, and Jacare, that. Well Jake make it look far more dominating that Jacare did. Not saying Jake is the better grappler, but Jake sure as hell made Miller look much more helpless than he did.
I honestly can't understand anyone giving Jake any shit for his performance last night. I'd expect it from noobs, and meat heads, but not from an actual fan of the sport. I thought the fight was very entertaining....
Oh yeah and the BJ > Jake Shields? LOLOLOLOLOLOL....that's a good one.

A man hugging clinic. And he about dominated himself into getting choked out in the third and was only saved by the bell. LOLOLOL

Well, watch something that might entertain you. Forrest vs Bonner should be right up you ally. Leave the grappling to the fans who actually enjoy MMA.
Saved by the bell? He clearly saw there was 5 seconds left and just let time run out. I'd call that a smart move from a vet.

First of all, I don't think you are sorry for my sake at all. Second of all, it's your opinion and perhaps 1 in 1000 or something. This is MMA. You gotta make your move, you can't position yourself all the fucking time. If you enjoy it, good for you. Did most find it boring? Probably. Was it showcase of high wrestling skills? No. If it wasn't for the cage, Jake would've never took down Mayhem as many times as he did. Was it showcase of high BJJ skills? Maybe. Except JAke was the one who was in biggest danger in spite of all his dominant positions. You can't just reposition yourself from dominant position to dominant position. It's MMA, it's entertainment at the same time. But win comes first. Always. So, I don't want to blame Jake or criticize him for his performance because he dominated. But, it was a boring fight nevertheless, very boring.
