i have no problem with him bringing attention to the sport, you are 100% correct there.

i have a problem with new fans spouting the Kimbo gospel because they dont know better, trivializing the REAL MMA fighters that have put their heart, blood, and life into this sport. i also have a problem with calling Kimbo a FIGHTER on an MMA forum that has been around way longer than Youtube, supporting true mixed martial artists.

you think Kimbo is the shit because everyone else told you he was before you even knew about MMA.

i respect the fact that Kimbo is putting in work, and training hard. but that is expected of any professional fighter. aside from that, he is being force fed to the mainstream as an MMA LEGEND already, and has faced nobody near top 50 competition yet.

if he proves me wrong, and starts knocking out guys the likes of Tim Sylvia, Fedor, Randy Couture, and Nog, i will be the first person to acknowledge it and give him props. but he has yet to beat anyone worthy of even having a UFC contract, much less the IFL or WEC.

until then, he should be heralded no more than Ben Rothwell. a promising new HW who has yet to really be tested, or face top competition.

better yet, he doesnt even come close to sniffing Ben Rothwell's jock at this point. but you would never know that by the way he is marketed, the way the mainstream media portrays him, and the purses he is receiving.

dont drink the koolaid kids, you're getting way too caught up in the hype.

wow.. i dont recall drinking koolaid and proclaiming Kimbo is the next Fedor... i just think he is great for the sport... heck, my mom has heard of him and his planning to watch the CBS fights.. and she has had NOOO intrest in MMA before.... i guess my mom is a stoopid noob.


sooo you hate the dude... based on what other people say about him.. ok... i tend to base my opinions on the fact that he respects the sports, he respects all fighters, and he trains hard and he is a nice funny dude... and not how he is promoted.... just hope he fights his best and continues to improve and fight tougher and tougher opponents.

Kimbo and Gina are great gateways for new fans to get into MMA... from Kimbo, they will see Lawler, and from Lawler, they will watch is old fighs... and so on... and opinions and new found respects for the sport will happen.

this is all good.
