Rash of Early Stoppages

First of all, I understand referees have a thankless job and a duty to protect the health of fighters. Nevertheless, I am troubled by a rash of recent early stoppages in televised fights.
From last night's ShoXC to Parysian's fight at UFN, it seems the referees have adopted an ad-hoc one knockdown rule.

The new rule seems to be, "If fighter is rocked and goes straight down, the fight should be stopped before he takes any additional blows even if he is moving to block."

IMHO - one of the great things about an MMA fight is a guy getting up off the deck to get a victory. With the early stoppages, we lose any chance of that.

It seems like there are always lots of early stoppages, its the most annoying thing in MMA IMO. I would rather see a guy catch a few more shots so there are no questions about the result than see a questionable stoppage. But I'm a fan not a fighter so I can't really say if its a good or bad thing.

There are very few early stoppages in MMA, unless you count all those fights were the stop the fight right when the guy shoots in to take the ref down

Although I am not a fighter, I would think they would be horrified at "losing" big fight when they haven't been knocked out. In Parysian's fight, he got rocked, fell down and immediately covered up. Before he even took a single blow, the ref stopped it.

IMHO - if the guy is moving to block, he is not defenseless and the fight shouldn't be stopped.

It seems like the refs are paranoid about stopping the fights everytime a fighter gets slightly hurt. Those stoppages are starting to hurt the results of the fights.

Mazzagatti needs to be fired. The reason he stopped the Lesnar fight was not because he wanted to take a point away from Lesnar, but he thought Mir was done, when he saw he fucked it up, he came with a lame excuse for stopping the fight. Itīs twice in a row for Mazzagatti, Landless was fired after he fucked up twice in a row. He is gonna continue to fuck it up from now on. Hit the road Mazzagatti, hit the road.

Frank Trigg said on taggradio.com that after the Hughes Vs. Trigg II incident. John McCarthy and the athletic comissions had a meeting and decided that from UFC 53 and On that the ref's will stop the fight on Flash KO's now.

That really limits a fight. I hate to see it, but safety first, I guess!!!
