Pretty much. Fans of Tim will argue that Sylvia's takedown defense is too good, but really, everyone who's wanted to take him down in the past two years has been able to: Nogueira, Randy, Monson, Vera, Assuerio. Secondly, his main strength is the sprawl, which doesn't really help in the clinch. He's not as good there, which is where Nogueira, Vera and Randy were able to take him down. Fedor is faster than any of them, likely just as strong, and is arguably as good in the clinch as Randy.

Lastly, unlike Nogueira, he has a perfect training partner who is roughly Sylvia's size and has excellent clinch skills: Aleks.

But yeah, you're right. I can't wait to see Fedor in there with greats like Eddie Sanchez and .... umm.. whoever else signs withthe UFC while Tim will be fighting total cans, potentially no hopers like Sergei, Aleks, Barnett.
My, how the tides have turned. I recall you saying that Fedor was dodging this and dodging that, and wouldn't fight anyone good outside the UFC, etc etc etc.

Let's be realistic:

The fight is probably pretty close; I'd even say 50-50.

Put hatred aside and recognize that Sylvia is a legitimate fighter, who happens to be really big.

I see Big Tim putting a beatdown on Fedor.

Think Houston Alexander/Keith Jardine style ass whooping.

Fedor has a chance at pulling off a miracle sub, like Nog did to Tim, but other than that, Fedor is going to be in a world of hurt.

WAR BIG TIM!

Well, the tides HAVE changed. Its generally agreed that Crocop gave Fedor a tough fight ( I disagree, but people liked that fight.) Tims a top fighter, whether people like it or not, Randy doen't want to go back to the UFC, Gonzaga was exposed by Werdum. I'm not sure whats up with Arlovski.

The only fights for Fedor are Nog and Kongo in the UFC. Is there a lot of doubt how these fights would go?

Now all those guys are gone, the champ is a guy Fedor has shown he overmatches....

I stand by my original point. lol at Fedor if he signs with the UFC now.

Why would it be close? Even Nog was the favourite against Tim, and he matches up much worse stylistically than Fedor

In real life though, Tim has a great chance in this fight. I'll say agan, I don't see Fedor getting up f he connects like he did on Nog ad I believe his exact approach from the Nog fight would work well against Fedor. No one has really tried to press Fedorother than Mark Coleman and Coleman actually has fought Fedor more competitively than Crocop or Nog did. (don't laugh, Coleman had Fedors back and landed shots from there, Nog was totally dominated and Crocop only landed a few shots).

Fedor has shown he can be hit, Crocop landed some good shots but seemed more tentative than I think Tim would be. Fedor was almost KOed by Fujita who wasn't even looking when he threw that punch. A good striker would have ended Fedor right there.

This would be a better fight than people think.
What makes you think Fedor's chin is any worse than Nog's? He took a big slam from Randleman and a massive right hand from Fujita, that hit from Fujita would have KO'd most, it broadsided him, but he recovered quickly. Fedor wouldn't have gotten hit by that strike from a good striker, he left himself open like that against Fujita precisely because he knew Fujita had poor striking, against a good striker he'd be MUCH more cautious.
