Agreed right here.

The stand up in the first round was terrible. Roy had him in side control and had just let go of an attempted kimura. I'm fine with the stoppage though. It's not the referee's fault at all, Roy fell into the cage and was laying on his stomach and seemed to be out cold until just as the referee stepped in. The referee was at a bad angle and Nelson fell badly and the referee correctly went to the side of caution.

It's too bad Roy gassed.
I think Nelson got hurt. But not even giving him a chance to defned some GNP and work from the bottom was quite ridiculous.

Tooled? no. He was just at big weight disadvantage on the ground and couldn't really do owt, kinda like Hunt vs Fedor, Did Fedor get tooled?

And bad stoppage? Lmao, He fell face first, That was a great stoppage, he would have only got brutally KOed with some GnP if the ref didn't stop it when he did.

And i agree about the standup in the first, that was pretty stupid on the refs part.

Agree 100%, if anything the ref saved Nelson, he was gassed, if that fight lasted another 10 seconds, Arlovski would have fucked him up BAD

Weight disadvantage?

It was like 15 pounds. Arlovski came in at what? 235? Nelson is 250 or so. Or at most, it was 20ish pounds.

Sorry, but that is HW. Arlovski has fought guys at the weight limit (Sylvia) before.

Also, yes, Fedor did get tooled for about 5 minutes in his fight with Hunt. As Trigg rightfully said "Fedor is losing this fight". If that fight had last past the first round, it would have been the first time since Arona that Fedor lost a round.

Dominant position + submission attempt = being tooled on the ground. Arlovski had no answer on the ground because his submission game is completely and utterly lacking. Arlovski is a very one dimensional striker for the most part.

He was conscious completely. He was bright eyed and attentive when he stood up a second later and he was all ready moving over into the guard.

Elite XC was saving Affliction's ass. The only fight Affliction has left is AA vs Fedor and if AA were to lose tonight, Affliction would be royally fucked. This reminds me of the Bret Hart Montreal incident in WWE (end the fight via referee stoppage before anything bad can happen to the company).

A bad stand up makes a bad stoppage 100 x worse....

That being said...this wasn't the worst stoppage I've seen...

Nelson had pretty much had enough....if he hadn't had the ref standing over him (mounted at that) he would have had Andrei there punching him more in the face...

I thought the standup was absolutely terrible, Roy was working his submission game, and that was easy to tell.

The stoppage was legit in my opinion, Roy should have got into a defensive position, he just fell limp to the mat and slowly started rolling to his back, if Arlovski would have pounced he would have done some major damage.
