but seriously, the article does nothing to disprove the theory that kimbo IS nothing but hype.
all it says is that IF he is a shitty fighter who has been fed a steady diet of cans, so what? people pay to see him fight!

which makes sense. sad, but it makes sense.

then u have anderson silva, gsp and of course the elusive fedor. all of whom have not been on a major magazine cover. all of whom have fought the best in their divisions, while showing more heart and skill than kimbo has or will show in any of his "fights"
i guess im just a bitter mma elitist.
its equivalent to a junior high basketball phenom being promoted as the greatest baller ever and getting more money and media time than michael jordan...

forgive me for being a hater...

Kimbo is so marketable its unbelievable. He's one guy that almost everyone into MMA is either going to love with a passion or hate with a passion.

Like what? Anything relevant that changes the fact that he hasn't fought a noteworthy opponent? Didn't think so. So he loves his kids and he fought the temptation to rob and murder people. That was very big of him. Give me a break.

I'd consider myself a realist when it comes to Kimbo. I haven't bought into any hype and do kind of resent him being treated as a superstar in this sport despite having accomplished nothing. I felt similarly about Brock Lesnar, but at least he has a legitimate martial arts background and was tested with quality opponents early in his career. Kimbo is taking advantage of the situation he's found himself in. But the way Shaw will continue to milk this and seemingly base his entire organization on one prospect (who, let's be honest, what makes him better than a low-level UFC HW prospect like Antoni Hardonk?) reeks of desperation. I just hope that the commentating team actually offers some perspective and talks about this fight for what it is, a 2-0 prospect who hasn't proven anything that we didn't already know from youtube fighting another guy handpicked for him to lose to, a guy who has lost 6 of 8 fights including the last two by KO.

Reading the article did give me a little more info on Kimbo's background, but it does nothing to change my opinion of what's taking place now.

^ I agree. If Kimbo was fighting on undercards there wouldnt be no "haters"

All the fighters that the article named can beat Kimbo, yes even Ricco

No promoter in their right minds would put someone like Kimbo Slice in pre-lims, let me ask this question would you upset if you were Kimbo? He is just living everybodys dream and the haters are wannabes and people who just couldnt cut it.
