It's an exagerration to say that Hamill was robbed.
I would love to see them allow for an extra round for close fights.

Sudden death would be great for split decisions, to take some controversy off.

That said, it was a very close fight and you're absolutely right about how exaggerated the outcome is played out to be. If people want to complain about bad judging, they should watch Ninja vs Hendo.

Shoji/Stiebling was one of my least favorite decisions. The second round was one of the best rounds in mma (edging out Torres/Maeda's second round). Pretty much all successful offense in the final round was Stiebling. And in Pride they typically favored the last round in scoring (as it helps predict who would win if it kept going).

Nah, no link, I have it on my DVR.
I felt pretty sure that she said "I can't see"
but she could've said something that rhymed with that and I wouldn't know.

I liked the show. Some good fights, some controversy, not too much girls dancing around... I like Miragliotta (since Yamma...). The Kimbo / JT fight looked like "MMA for dummies": great education for casual fans

Jmend, I often disagree with you but as always you brought up some interesting points. I disagree with your analysis of the Kimbo fight in particular. If they were really aiming to stop the fight a bit early to be cautious, then it should have stopped in the second round.
You can't have you cake and eat it too.

Yeah, I am not so sure about Kimbo vs JT. That was the most troubling fight out of the entire event. The NJSAC said though that when JT was on top of Kimbo, and throwing elbows or whatever, that it was doing ZERO damage, and Kimbo himself was saying that to the ref and giving the thumbs up. It was more like rubbing and elbow to his face and throwing blows every now and then. Both fighters were tired at this time.
Another thing people don't realize is that JT is a big guy, and he does not get KTFO and lays on the floor, he usually staggers and has that lost look in his face, but he keeps tumbling around, like versus Aleks and Rogers, he was never completely out and motionless.
The side mount standup, well, that one looks really bad too, but, if the ref agrees that JT was just on top of him and resting, and the fight was going no where, I guess he has the right ot stand them up. EliteXCs ground policy is a bit stricter than the UFCs. If you ever watch any EliteXC cards, they NEVER let the fighter on top just stay there without doing anything. So, I have seen it before, and even in the UFC. Does anyone remember when the ref stood up Mir vs Lesnar? Everyone was pissed about that too.

Its not like it doesn't happen else where. Look at the UFC. Matt Hamill was robbed by Bisping, Clay Guida robbed in the fight against Tyson Griffin(it was close though). Karo vs Thiago Alves was stopped a bit early, or when the first fight between Nate Quarry and Pete sell was stopped way too early after a body shot. How about Babalu being fired, or the other numerous talented fighters that are let go.

Look bad stoppages, or judging are always going to happen. But, the truth is Dan Marrigliota reffed Kimbo/Thompson like someone was leaning on him. Not to mention the rediculous amount of favortism going on at the event. Someone posted here that attended the show, said that the dancers were passing out the "Kick ass Kimbo" signs to fans. You can never say the UFC has ever did anything like that, And I can't ever remembering a fighter losing his job for calling some one out, thats what happened to Rodgers.

I was pumped for this card and left feeling disapointed.

I second that.

Let me tell you why people are calling this showing a joke.
1)You have BUSTA RHYMES making the FIRST introduction of the night. This is distastefully reminiscent of "Iron Ring" on BET. Definately NOT what the face of MMA should be. If people already consider it BARBARIC, it's probably not a good idea to come at MMA with the GANGSTER approach.
2)I don't think fights were so much "worked", as there was just bad reffing. Baroni was a good stoppage he was out. Kaitlin Young was not out, and in her blog afterwards, said the doctor even cleared her to fight in the last round, and the COMMISION stepped in and stopped the fight, OVERRULING A DOCTOR WHO HAS A MEDICAL DEGREE. This was clearly a bad stoppage.
3)Bad reffing also equals NOT STOPPING A FIGHT WHEN YOU SHOULD. The NJSAC RULES state that if a fighter is not INTELLIGENTLY DEFENDING HIMSELF the ref is to call the fight. I don't think having both of your arms trapped and taking about 30 unanswered elbows to the cranium is an intelligent defense(see Kimbo v Thomson)
4)It is understood that there have to be commercials for $$$ and sponsorship's etc. The problem with this for one is that we didn't even see the FIRST FIGHT until over 30 minutes into the show. THATS HALF AN HOUR OF COMMERCIALS AND COMMENTATOR TALK. Thanks CBS.
5)Very poorly planned. The show ran OVER THE ALLOTTED TIME SLOT BY 45 MINUTES. Nothing else needs to be said here.
6)It is clear that EliteXc is focused on nothing but "Big Knockout's" and "Backyard Brawl" style fights. I think the ONLY fight that we saw some decent ground game in was JT v Kimbo, and the decency came from JT. Unfortunaley this brings you back to point 2 and 3. Bad reffing. Mergliotti STOOD JT AND KIMBO UP while JT had SIDE CONTROL. Genius.
7)The commentators had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA of how to comment on the action that was going on inside the cage.
You feelin me yet? B/c I can do this all day.
WAR UFC!!!!!!!
