Cage Fury 5 Dante Rivera scuffle
Anyone know what actually went down durring this event? Below is a copy past from RiccardoAlmeida.com with a quick update on it. If anyone actually saw what went down I would appreciate some info...thanks
Regarding the post-fight scuffle:
For those of you who watched the Pay-per-view or made it to the arena in person, you witnessed the disrespect displayed by Team Rhino's fighter Alexis Aquino and his camp. For your information, the New Jersey Athletic Commission held a meeting this past week in which Team Rhino's Head Instructor Rob Guarino personally stated a formal apology to our camp. He also posted a written apology to some of the most popular MMA websites. The letter states:
“I apologize for the actions of my fighter Alexis Aquino that occurred before and during the fight on Saturday. In no way did he intend to disrespect Dante, Renzo, Ricardo, or anyone on their team.
Alexis prepared for a war, an all out street fight. He knows the caliber of Dante’s skills and to take the belt away from him, Alexis had to mentally bring himself to a place that took no prisoners. His actions towards Dante were completely unscripted and surprised me,” Rob continued “Alexis has been with us (Rhino) for about 12 weeks." Rob Guarino.
PS: Alexis Aquino trained with another MMA camp before joining Team Rhino.
All in all, it's water under the bridge after the meeting. Our team was represented at the meeting by Prof. Almeida, his wife Ally, and his students Dante Rivera, Tom DeBlass, Haz Ibrahim, Thomas Clifford and Russ Ward. The Athletic Commission was represented by it's Councel , Nick Lembo, who did a fantastic job addressing Aquino's unacceptable behavior in the cage, which led to many heated reactions. Rob Guarino and Alexis Aquino (who called the Athletic Commission for the meeting) were there as well. With a positive outcome, we look forward to facing Team Rhino's fighters talented fighters again in the future.
