First off...I used to like and Bas Rutten...He was a good fighter and a great commentator for my favorite MMA Orginzation Pride FC...But the worshipping of this dude by 98% of this forum sickens me...Do I think Bas has a legacy..YES...but not cause of his fighting...cause he WASNT an ELITE fighter...just a very good fighter...its the combination of things that give him his legacy...Fighting/Commentating/Training...cause if we are going on fight career he is not a legend...lets be real Bas didnt face elite competion and IMO would get mauled by todays Current Top 10 HW's and Top 10 LW's...So what he had a long winning streak...so did Denis Kang (23 straight wins) and no one will confuse Kang with being a Legend...Lets be real here Bas is 0-2 against Ken Shamrock...a guy who got MAULED by Tito 3 times...Beat an undersized Frank Shamrock 2-1,and IMO lost a descion th Randleman...this guy has fought NOBODYS...someone mentioned Bas would beat Fedor...lol thats laughable...Fedor would maul him in under 2 minutes...so lets take it easy on Bas being a legend on his fighting skills...good yes...elite NO...lets face it if Bas retired in 99 and didnt commentate and wasnt involved in MMA like he is now...we wouldnt be talking about him and this Jesus like stature we created for him...his legacy would be very good fighter and THATS IT..

2nd...I see on the cover of sherdog Bas is 2nd in votes for being the best trainer...LOL...more sherdog properganda and people sweating this guy cause its the "IN" thing to sweat Bas...."Tapout,Affliction" and Bas"....those are the current in things...Bas is a better trainer then Rudimar Fedrigo who trained Wand,Shogun,Ninja,Dida,Pele...I THINK NOT...Bas is better then Militech who trained Hughes,Pulver,Sylvia and Lawler...I THINK NOT...Cesar Gracie who has the Diaz Brothers,Shields and Melendez...I THINK NOT,Hackleman has Liddel,Juanito has worked with wonders with Page...i can go on for days...who has Bas put out...Kimbo Slice...lol a guy who beat a super can in Bo Cantrell and a washed up Tank Abbott...fuck outta here with that shit...stop making this dude the Jesus like figure he is not

Yes, Bas is a legend. And he is for the exact reasons you stated. While he was fighting, he was one of the top dogs. He is a good trainer. And he is a great commentator. Combine all of that with his kick ass attitude, and that is why he is a legend.
