I'm a little happy Southworth lost, maybe his ego will deflate a bit. I remember watching an interview with him right before his comeback in MMA stating how promotions that claim to have the best fighters in the world are lying because they don’t have him.

He didn't knock Bobby out. He cut Bobby. Bobby lost on a cut. Bobby would kick his ass otherwise.

It came as no surpirse to me, in fact I made $14,000 off Ruiz's victory on MMAplayground.com and was the second top earner for the event because of it.

As soon as I looked at Ruiz record I knew he would win. Lets see...someone who has gone 8-2 in their past ten fights, with those 2 losses being to Trevor Prangley and Vladimir Matyushenko. Who is still relatively young and improving vs an almost 40 year old Bobby Southworth who people think will win just because he was on the ultimate fighter and recognize his name. NHB7, I don't know if anyone saw Southworth's last fight with Bill Mahoud but he won because Mahoud snapped a rib, not because of Southworth's strikes, it was like a freak accident. In the same time period Ruiz was racking up 8 victories Southworth only won against Mahoud via freak accident and Vernon White. And he got beat by Sam Hoger.

Once Southworth got hit with that combo it was over. You didn't hear him complaining about the stoppage did you? He actually seemed relieved. If the fight had continued he just would have got ground and pounded out and would have been blind from all the blood in his eyes. After the combo landed he was done.

He TKO'd Bobby.

The ref stopped the fight due to strikes. The only person who can order a cut stoppage is the ringside doctor, and he was not consulted before the stoppage.

It's a shame Bobby's belt wasn't on the line.
