the great sherdog! seriously though the devastation is beyond belief. In many parts of those southern gulf states it looks like someone took an entire landfill and dumped it over them. I dont think it will ever be cleaned up without a country wide effort.

The Mississippi Gulf coast looks pretty good. MY wife and I went to Biloxi and Gulf Shores in July. Lots of Debris, but they are actively rebuilding.

I was in New Orleans in August. I couldn't tell a difference pre/post storm.

Don't get me wrong, there are a ton of people who are decent, upstanding citizens, who don't deserve what happened to them....but i have no sympathy for the primarily minority scum that made this disaster worse than it should have been. It boils down to this...people living on a active volcano should not complain about lava in their backyard....and people living in new orleans who have been aware of this threat since the 1700's should make the decision to either prepare themselves for this possibility, or MOVE!! I'm sick of having my tax dollars go to corrupt politicians, and then to wellfare idiots who don't have brain one, and use the money to buy tv's and rims for their freakin cars (i live here....i'm not making this up), instead of moving to a better place to live, feeding their children, or moving out of a one room shack or ghetto. If you live in poverty, and have 15 kids from random people, and live in a slum, but drive around a 86 cadillac with 4000 dollars spinning rims...you should be shot on sight for wasting good oxygen!! This disaster was only as bad as it was because of the government dependant, minority, uneducated, moral-less people that stayed in the city during the storm....and then tore up the super dome....because that's all they know how to do, whine, bitch, put blame on the government and middle-upper class, and when given the chance and lack of authority----turn into complete savages that are barely above animal status!!! i'm off my soap box, but people aroudn the country need to wake up to this problem....socialism, and money redistribution (which is illegal in this country according to the constitution), are the straws that are going to break the camels back one day!! wake up america

New Orleans DOES have some serious social problems. People in Louisiana claim that New Orleans citizens are a different breed. Of the areas that accepted evacuees, none will likely do it again. Crime has escalated, especially gang related crime and petty theft.

I love the cops episode where they leave a bicycle on the side of the road and bust like 20 people trying to steal it. When asked why they took the bike, everyone said things like it was theirs, or that they found it, and it therefore did not beling to anyone. Just real pathetic excuses for human beings. As the above poster said, no morals. So everybody, send your money to the mississippi gulf coast, where they'll actually use the money to rebuild instead of buying rims. Maybe they'll build a new casino and have more MMA shows.

I agree for so many reasons. I've heard first-hand horror stories from people I know that went to the super dome to try and help. the crap that went on there was unbelievable.. especially at night. Those people should have been trying to help each other. I'm not gonna take the chance and give my money to that scum. I'm not saying everybody acted like that either. but you can't pick and choose who your money goes to.
